Apparently external powered usb hub helps but not guaranteed it will work or for how long!

Possible SOLUTION!!!

Seems fix could be quite easy accoring to this post:

Just setting to PCIe to gen 3 in Bios fixes all usb power problems.....

I think it's worth to try for you having amd mobos pcie gen 4.

It’s not advisable to put the link cable display cable on usb, it works best on the display ports of the graphics card.

also FPS issue may be caused by legacy 32 bit WMR,

This is from a redit post.

All graphics problems FIXED! HP REVERB G2! No more stuttering!

I can't explain to you all how much I despised windows before this, but now? INFINITELY MORE.

TLDR below.

I stream, and using a program called OVR toolkit to see my chat, and it was TANKING my fps just looking at it.

My gaming rig is a i9-9900k 3.6Ghz, EVGA 3080 FTW3 Ultra, 64 gb of ram, ASUS ROG Maximus XI Extreme Z390 motherboard - I couldn't get rid of stuttering in games, with ovr, without ovr, it was driving me mad.

I contacted the developer of ovr, his name is Curtis, unbelievable guy, replies straight to you on their discord, and rolls out changes so fast it is something to behold. He told me to run half life alyx, ovr, and report back on how much gpu ovr was using. Well I did it, opened task manager, and ovr was only using 6%, Alyx obviously more, BUT WINDOWS DESKTOP MANAGER WAS USING 30% TO 40%

I Googled it and found someone saying checkout scaling options in display setting, I went in there and I have THREE NEW DISPLAYS besides my TV. I told Curtis and he was like holy shit, you're in WMR? And I said yes, and he linked me this:

https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/mixed-reality/enthusiast-guide/using-microsoft-edge#monitor-and-input-handling-issues

He told me this:

Those additional desktops are 'virtual' desktops.
WMR creates them for use with it's own desktop viewer.
Per the above link, you can disable them with a registry entry. It's possible it's adding to the issue.
As you're rendering even more displays.

So I did it, searched the article for disable it popped up followed the steps in the registry, restarted the PC and BOOM! It works!

For windows desktop manager to be using 40% of my beast of a GPU is absolute INSANITY. I stream from a second computer, an iMac to avoid the madness that is windows, this is unreal to me that it's even a feature Jesus Christ.

TLDR Windows is the bane of our existence. WMR is rendering 3 additional screens at all times and eating up all your GPU, Curtis of OVR Toolkit helped me fix it all credit goes to him. Go to this link: https://docs.microsoft.com/en-us/windows/mixed-reality/enthusiast-guide/using-microsoft-edge#monitor-and-input-handling-issues and search the word disable to disable virtual monitor pre-allocation.

And support OVR Toolkit here! I am not affiliated with them in any way whatsoever, I'm a stand up comedian who also streams on Twitch haha https://store.steampowered.com/app/1068820/OVR_Toolkit/

Happy gaming everyone! The headset is a wonder! The controllers are an abysmal failure though (tracking), I hope they fix that.

My controllers work fine, but mixed reality portal crashes after a random time. Between 1 to 10 minutes.

In VR I get headtracking loss - then blue picture for 2 second, then black for 5 while everything VR related crashes - then mixed reality portal restarts. X570 Tomahawk WiFi here. The issue stems from HP Reverb G2 though, not from the Ryzen boards. Any other headset works perfectly on the new Ryzen platform.

Troubleshooting via HPReverb's Discord is useless, the guys that are the loudest there and appear helpful at first have no structure or idea.

I have a lead (on the USB ports and the cheap badly isolated USB-c to USB-A adapter) but can only check that later in around 12hrs. Atm it looks like a DOA, without additional investment, unless I can find a solution. I'll also contact HP's support.

I was getting those random WMR start ups even when I wasn’t playing any VR apps.

I have a MSI x570 WiFi Gaming MOBO running AMD Ryzen 7 3800 CPU   I also experienced the very same issue with intermitted G2 VR operation.  On one of the forums I believe it was HP

s) recommended  addon USB daughter board.  This is the board I bought and I HAVE NOT have any further issue with my G2, it working Great!  Not sure how long we will have to wait until HP and AMD stop pointing figures at each other for a chipset

Card Info:

Star Tech USB 3,1 PCIE card (PEXUSB312EIC) (StarTech.com)
