Beebop Posted December 3, 2020 Posted December 3, 2020 So some of you might be familiar with my "reluctance" to switch from my archaic PSP 8 to a modern skinning tool that can handle 4K skins. I have decided to go with GIMP because it is affordable ("Free is a very good price" -Tom Petersen, late local discount retailer), and seems to have the best flexibility, is capable of opening .psd files and exporting them to .dds I am currently using 2.10.22 but to only convert 2K .psd files to .dds files. that's all I really know about using GIMP at the moment. I have looked through the various threads here and Youtube. The threads here address specific "end user" procedures like Alhpa channels and the many "Beginners" tutorials for GIMP on YouTube cover ares I have no need or interest in like editing photos. I am looking for tutorials that address IL-2 BoX skinning specifically. I want tutorials that show you how to work with templates (not make them) and navigating through the tools and functions. Basically I need to unlearn over 15 years experience with an outdated 32 bit program and step into the present. Any help appreciated. TIA
Raptorattacker Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Welcome to 2020. Unfortunately I don't use GIMP so I will be of little helpp but if ever you come over to PS then you know where I is!! Rap 1
schwarzerHund Posted December 4, 2020 Posted December 4, 2020 Beebop! Hope all is well in the Pacific Northwest! I, too, use GIMP- and started from scratch- learning as I went. You may want to search through the YouTubes- I think there may be something helpful there. My best friend is control/z to erase my previous error ?. I'm not sure how much of that thread I ever used or still use- but I'm sure there are a couple nuggets in there that may be of help to you. I look forward to seeing what you'll do when you get your sea legs under you in GIMP! I am by no means an expert but feel free to shoot me a PM if you have a specific conundrum. All the best to you! 1 1
