New NA RAF Unit - The 2nd Tactical Air Force!

Hello gents,

 

My name is tora117, though most call me tora. I am a third generation warbird pilot with a passion for military simulation.

I have been flying combat flight simulators for over 10 years with titles such as Combat Flight Simulator 3, Aces High (A personal favorite), DCS, and IL2.

 

A few weeks ago I decided I wanted to try my hand at forming my own virtual squadron using what I have learned through my experiences in Milsim, and thus the 2nd Tactical Air Force was born.

 

Historically, The 2nd TAF was formed on June 1st, 1943, using squadrons from RAF Fighter and Bomber Command with the goal of supporting the British Army's advance through Europe. Because of this background, the virtual 2nd TAF is able to perform numerous historical missions ranging from bomber escort, interdiction, CAS, CAP, strike, and several others.

 

Currently, I am trying to field No. 122 Sqn, a Spitfire/P51 squadron, but I have plans to introduce additional squadrons including the typhoon, hurricane, and upcoming Mosquito to the force.

 

Because the 2nd TAF is still in its infancy, things like training pipelines, pilot profiles/trackers, and campaigns have yet to be introduced. However, our current dedicated members are ready to introduce the community to a proper virtual squadron experience.

My time zone is UK but this is very interesting. I work a shift rota, days and nights with a good number of days off. Would very much like to know if my time zone would bar me. 2 TAF is very much a hobby horse of mine.

Sorry !  No. 174 Squadron is taken.  174 Sqn didn't fly the Tempest during World War II.  Only the Hurricane along with the Typhoon.  Thanks for the chat on your Discord earlier Tora.  Much appreciated.
