-=No.66=-GetSaltyBrah Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 (edited) I have recently upgraded from a ryzen 7 1700 to a ryzen 9 3900xt. With my old 1700 I would just overclock the 3.9ghz across all cores inside the bios and just forget about it. Now with the newer processors it all gets a little bit confusing to me. I have been recommended by a gamer buddy (who doesn't fly in any sims) to use 'ryzen master' and put the cpu into 'boosted mode'. This apparently lets the software autoboost the overclock on cores when it is required and also reduces it at times when the cores aren't been used. Simple right? When I test this on other games, I can clearly see this in effect. Some of the cores boost up nicely, sometimes up to 4.7ish and sometimes for prolonged periods and rarely drop below 3.9/4. Great! My issue is when it comes to testing good old Il2 Box, inside of VR. With boosted mode on, I rarely see any of the cores go above 4ghz. Even when I set it to manual mode inside of ryzen master and overclock to a stable 4.5ghz, the cores just down clock inside of gameplay and seem to stay around 3.8/3.9ghz 95% of the time. I have always read about how this game is very cpu heavy, and am asking for help from fellow ryzen users to help me understand. Does this boosted mode also work for this game and I am just been a potato? Do I need to manually find a stable overclock and set it in the bios? Any advice on optimising my cpu settings for this single core thriving game. Many thanks, Salty brah Edited December 1, 2020 by -=No.66=-GetSaltyBrah
