JG1_Vonrd Posted November 30, 2020 Posted November 30, 2020 (edited) I've been wanting to do an historical skin for some time now (I've been doing the personal skins for JG1 and am currently revising them to be as historically plausible as possible along with JG1_Heinrich... with all of the GB and FC models it must number in the hundreds...). Every time I find a subject to do a historical skin it seems that one of the master skinners here has already done it. Our Kommantant, JG1_Klaiber made me aware of these "Sharkmouth" FW-190s which were originally II./JG26 war weary FW 190A1s used to train II./JG1 pilots to transition from Bf 109s and were located in Abbeville-Drucat in March 1942. There isn't a whole lot of reference material... just a few B&W photos of the cowling area. I based this skin on a really nice scale model. I have the feeling that he has researched as much as possible since this is a really beautiful model. Here's the link to his build thread: https://forum.largescaleplanes.com/index.php?/topic/30020-pacific-coast-focke-wulf-fw-190a-1/ So this is the initial skin. I plan on doing quite a bit more weathering due to their description of being war weary. Also plan on making one with the Hakenkruz as well as one without. DN308 Posted November 30, 2020 Posted November 30, 2020 Excellent!!!! We need more JG1, JG26 and 27 skins!!! This one is gorgeous 2
JG1_Greif Posted November 30, 2020 Posted November 30, 2020 Very interesting! The style seems quite surprising to me for the Germans WW2 planes.
JG1_Vonrd Posted December 1, 2020 Author Posted December 1, 2020 (edited) OK it's done. I'm pretty happy with the results of the weathering / paint chipping. And many thanks to ICDP for the template! One skin with swastika and one without. Download here: https://www.dropbox.com/sh/www260l4uwgg8ve/AAA5qZJpzHgWMoev2pNrTQofa?dl=0 Edited December 1, 2020 by JG1_Vonrd 14 2 4
