AI showing weak spot while fighting

Hello,

while trying Tigre's great campaigns i realized that AI dont turn front against enemy. While followin the waypoints on the street they turn the gun up to 60 degree and start shooting ending up being killed by hit in the weak side. AI should always show the front to the enemy while fighting against dangerous targets like tanks ant AT's.

Thx

can you tell me where this is happening? for which mission of which campaign?
Usually I program to ensure that tanks don't get in such situations, as TC-designed tanks don't face the enemy on their own as they roll.
apart from the tank destroyers, but they do it because they are obliged to have the cannon facing the enemy ..
but it must be taken into account that on a battlefield if a tank finds itself facing 2 groups of enemies , for example one from the front and one from the side,
at some point it will expose its flank to one of the 2 groups. and this is not necessarily a lack of realism, during the action the tanks do not watch all the places,
or must make a choice of positioning facing one of the 2 groups

and if you make a big bypass, you are more likely to find tanks with their flanks exposed

For my part I have never seen in a tank video game, the tanks controlled by the AI that watch their flank, in fact they follow the waypoints but if I had to make sure that each tank or group of tanks face the player's tank, anywhere on the map, i would have to put hundreds of Chekzone triggers all over the place ..

and that would slow down the game considerably. it would be much more practical for the TC team to program the tanks so that they stop moving forward, take the time to turn a bit, get into an angle and shoot...

but this may a strange effect, the tanks would spend their time turning and then straightening up to continue moving forward, it could be very weird.

they would do this all along their waypoints ..

unless the TC developers take the programming even further and decide to ensure that when as long as a target is not destroyed the tank does not move at all and stays positioned front.

But what is certain is that it would pose serious problems if the AI did not do what it is told to do and it just starts changing waypoints or doing random things.

it would be catastrophic for the programming of a mission, nothing would work as planned, the action would take too long, things would not be triggered as planned

etc ...

we must not forget that this is not a part of multiplayer but single player, like classic games "T34 vs TIGER, Kharkov1942 etc etc

generally the fact that a tank finds itself on the flank does not pose a problem for me, I assume that I am not alone on the battlefield,
the enemy tanks are not all going to be especially facing me, and it happens i often think that a tank crew prefers to turn the turret rather than the whole tank ..
i don't think that in real life on a battlefield all tanks would face up to a single tank in particular and that in a systematic way.

the thing that I wouldn't like and consider to be a failure is when I program a mission and I realize that the enemy tanks continue to roll as they have passed the targets to be destroyed, and we see them continue to roll forward with the barrel pointed at the rear which shoots. and I tell myself that the programming is failed,

" I always take care to manufacture a mission so that this does not happen"

in such a situation they would have to stop and do half everything to surround the enemy. or at least turn to face him after a while ... but I sincerely believe that this detail of the tank spinning to roughly face its target is the responsibility of the TC team.

but despite everything I think that it may be that this is a problem and that it does not necessarily give a necessarily realistic aspect,

because you have to think about the place in which the tank is also......if a tank is driving in a narrow street , I think it would not be realistic for him to turn the whole tank,

me as a human I do not do it, I am more afraid to block my tank against a house etc ...

and then regarding tank shelters and the fact that a tank is programmed to suddenly go backwards, it could cause serious problems, that the tank gets crooked in its tank shelter and cannot go in  rear as desired,

these are issues that may appear following an update of the tank AI

Thx for your support. It is the first "Citadelle" mission. The Panther climbing up the hill being ambushed by T34. They start shooting and dont turn. I always loose 1-2 Panther in this situation. The AI should easily be able to turn the tank. I consider it a bug/missing feature.

I will see what I can do to compensate for this problem on the passage of this mission!
I had indeed noticed it, but I preferred to leave like that, to give a little suspense, that the Germans lose a few tanks!
in the end they manage to break through this line of defense anyway!
but if it really bothers you I will try to modify and repost the PACK140

Great Support. I realy love this first mission. Never made it to the end right now, twice my tracks were destroyed and the ammo truck ramed me and was destroyed, so i ran out of ammo. Very exiting, you really have to take care of the AI. And i love the that mission develops. Good job.

thanks !

I took advantage of the update to make the rear guard arrive faster too ...

Usually when there are enemy tanks that really attack from the flank, I make sure to position the friendly tanks well, but sometimes I just let the friends get killed! but I am generally aware of it.

yes this campaign must be difficult I think ^^ and even more when there are no target and distance tracking icons !!
