cptnjacksparrow Posted November 28, 2020 Posted November 28, 2020 (edited) Hey guys. I come from war thunder, looking for a game with better controller/ joystick support, but having issues. In the key mapping page, I can bind things to axes. But moving them does nothing. For example, Right Stick to move camera. During binding, it knows im moving the right stick. But then when I check the axis response curve, or ingame mission, moving it has no effect. Also, some buttons, it only lets me use in certain cases. For example, setting the D-pad as a look around button works, but I cannot get it to work as trim control, nothing happens when I press them. At the same time, certain other things on the controller are working just fine, eg left stick and trigger buttons. Also, this is the only controller that I have plugged in to the computer. So there shouldn't (?) be any issues with the numbering of controllers right? The game sees it as joy0 Any help would be appreciated. Edited December 13, 2020 by cptnjacksparrow
DD_Crash Posted December 1, 2020 Posted December 1, 2020 I have never used a gamepad with Il-2 but I know that some trims on some aircraft cant be mapped to axis and must be mapped to buttons. You also have to accept the settings for them to save.

I come from war thunder, Probable where the problems start, controls in this games although similar is not like in WT, so don't want assign controls like in WT. In the key mapping page, I can bind things to axes. But moving them does nothing. An axis or button is assigned when you see something like 'joy0_axis X or joy0_button2" in the assignment window and hit OK after. For example, Right Stick to move camera. During binding, it knows im moving the right stick. But then when I check the axis response curve, or ingame mission, moving it has no effect. Your description is too vague do say what is wrong, since are more than one place where can assing, and may are not the correct. For control the point of view from inside cockpit is "Pilot Head". Anyway you can use an mini-stick axes for control camera - I already have tested this, just don't find practical, due the return to center spring of mini-stick. Also, some buttons, it only lets me use in certain cases. For example, setting the D-pad as a look around button works, but I cannot get it to work as trim control, nothing happens when I press them. First, are 3 or more types of trim controls, some work for specific aircraft only, and some aircraft, like Bf 109 just have one trim, the "Stabilizer Adjust". Could be, for example that you are trying to adjust rudder trim for an aircraft that don't have rudder trim. At the same time, certain other things on the controller are working just fine, eg left stick and trigger buttons. What indicates that you can use all axes and buttons of the controller, just not for all controls because of specifies as above.
cptnjacksparrow Posted December 13, 2020 Author Posted December 13, 2020 A few restarts later, the game just fixed itself and now it works fine. Thanks anyways guys.
