Beebop Posted November 25, 2020 Posted November 25, 2020 Last night me and the boys were flying a mission made by one of the guys when suddenly we got the message that the mission would end in 18 minutes and sure enough, 18 minutes later it did. Now he has made missions and hosted before but this never happened. I too make missions and host them but have never had this happen. So in an effort to help figure out the problem I went to the MP setup menu and discovered I really had not idea what most of the boxes meant. Sure some had tips when I hovered my mouse cursor over them but often it was just the same name with little real explanation. So I searched the forums and couldn't find a post on what those setting mean. There's a couple of posts on graphics that do that and are very helpful. For instance, what is TDM? Moving the cursor over "TDM Round time" gives me "TDM Round time". Not very helpful. Several other items do the same thing, just repeat what's already there. And a search of the forums using the letters TDM turned up only one result and that result used the phrase "TDM settings" but did not go into what it was or how to set them. I did learn that "Points per mission" had to do with stopping the mission when points were depleted although I have no idea how "points" are allocated. how many points lost for losing a plane? I checked both manuals but both were written at a time when the MP GUI looked radically different. Also the settings were more clear. There was on "time to mission end" and you were able to tick a box "Unlimited". Those options no longer exist it that form. Is there a topic or post that explains what those setting are and what they mean? Also, please don't suggest using a D Server. One of the guys tried that and it was a PITA so we have gone back to hosting from out ingame MP server. TIA
JimTM Posted November 25, 2020 Posted November 25, 2020 (edited) Here's a document that lists the equivalent settings for DServer, In-Game Server, .sds file, and IL-2 Realism screen. For example, TDM round time in the in-game server is equivalent to Max time for round in DServer. The DServer settings are documented in the manual. "TDM" stands for "Team Death Match", which applies to a "Dogfight" type mission. Server Setting Equivalents.zip Edited November 25, 2020 by JimTM
Beebop Posted November 25, 2020 Author Posted November 25, 2020 (edited) OK. That was helpful. So TDM determines how long the mission will run. (we were in a dogfight mission). And if that is set to -1 (the apparent universal "game code" for unlimited) the mission will run until them host closes the server? So that leaves me with the question about 'Points per round'. The default is 500. If we ran out of points and that caused the shutdown, how can points be determined? Is there any documentation of how the points are allocated and to what? For instance how many points is a plane? is there a difference between plane types? Same with ground objects such as AAA. I know there was apparently a change in object durability around the time that the Kuban map was released and that subject was addressed in a couple of forum posts so I better understand how to set durability values. How I can a mission builder/host figure out what number to put in "Points per round"? Edited November 25, 2020 by Beebop

There is some documentation on pg. 271-272 of the manual on how secondary tasks in the mission objective translator affect points, but I have not tested it lately so I do not know if it still works the same way. I do not know what points are allotted for objects like planes and ground objects. Edited November 25, 2020 by JimTM 1
