343KKT_Kintaro Posted November 23, 2020 Posted November 23, 2020 We have five different variants for the Tiger Moth in the game. They are named as follows: Tiger Moth (and Tiger Moth/Trop) Tiger Moth 1940 Tiger Moth A-1 Tiger Moth A-2 I think the A-2 was part of the Czech volonteers squadron... correct? And what about the other Tiger Moths in the game, any expert on Tiger Moths out there?
Sokol1 Posted November 23, 2020 Posted November 23, 2020 (edited) Tiger Moth 1940 is the "real", primary trainer used by British Commonwealth in 1930's/40's. "Trop" is their N.Africa version. A-1 and A-2 are more an "creation exercise" based on rare, insignificant prototypes. BTW - Tiger Moth 1940 still needing tuning, specially their instruments, that shack lot... with plane on ground and engine off. ? Tiger Moth (1940) inclusion in the game, be a trainer for new pilots fail because CloD "peculiarities". Is difficult to handle on ground due wind bug. The "training Module" is a good idea bad executed, hinder by the AI bug that crash the plane 90% of time, the inappropriate use of wings slats by AI stall the plane. * In MP, two human players switching controls is complicated, need be done in a specific order, and when command is returned for the player instructor the plane make a "snap roll". * Curious is that this bug don't affect the A2 version. 343KKT_Kintaro Posted November 23, 2020 Author Posted November 23, 2020 Thank you for your kind answer Sokol. In fact, there's no "Tiger Moth 1940 Trop" in the game. "Tiger Moth" is one item in the list of aircraft, and "Tiger Moth 1940" is another different item in the list. The one that has a tropical version is "Tiger Moth", not "Tiger Moth 1940". The A-1 and A-2 variants were prototypes only? really? So... there were no A-1s nor A-2s in North Africa?
Sokol1 Posted November 23, 2020 Posted November 23, 2020 From what I've been able to read, not even on the "channel", there are only other... "Su(FO)-26".. ? 1
343KKT_Kintaro Posted November 23, 2020 Author Posted November 23, 2020 No more precisions on those A-1s and A-2s? how many copies each? Do we know those things?

Do we know those things? The A-2 version is based on historical Czech Air Force Tiger Moths from the 1920's.... numbers not known... around 25. Armed with Czech belt fed Schwarzlose 7.92mm MG. The A-1 is a fantasy version, based on the idea the British might put an MG on the top wing. We used the Vickers K. The two above versions were added mostly just to provide fun types which players can use in competitions... and these have been popular. The Tiger Moth is an extremely maneuverable and challenging aircraft to fly in dogfights... it can do things which other types would find impossible. The A-1 and A-2 have higher horsepower engines... based on the high output engines used in racing Tiger Moths. The A-2 has a prop engineered for maximum speed... so it is faster. The A-1 has a prop engineered for maximum climb... so it climbs better. Both these props were historical types. The 1940 version is historical... and based on the planned use of the aircraft in the event of a German invasion of Britain in 1940. It uses the standard engine and prop. The bomb carrying is accurate... all Tiger Moth Squadrons operational at the time of the BoB were told to prepare to be used in a night harassment bombing role in the event of an invasion. None of the aircraft were actually used in this role. However, during the Malayan Campaign at the time of the capture of Singapore, a few Tiger Moths based there were used as harassment and anti-sub bombers using the same equipment. Desperate times require desperate measures. ?
343KKT_Kintaro Posted November 24, 2020 Author Posted November 24, 2020 Thank you Buzzsaw, that was lovely. Desperate questions require desperate answers! LoL

Fascinating!
