WM_KMS Posted November 22, 2020 Posted November 22, 2020 Why is it on some missions I can speed up the time and others I can't, sometimes even on the same mission I can speed up on 1 section but not on others, I can always slow time down though
=J18=FritzGerald Posted November 22, 2020 Posted November 22, 2020 The only factor that I know of, is when you are recording it, using the IL2 sturmovik thing for doing that, you can't speed it up while you're creating a track record of what ever is happening, but if you're not doing the recording thing, you can speed it up. Hopefully that explains it! Salute! -Gerald
Feathered_IV Posted November 23, 2020 Posted November 23, 2020 It seems that if your computer has some performance to spare you will get a degree of time acceleration. However in missions or moments where things are busy, you can often find that the acceleration feature either slows down or does not make any significant difference to your game speed. In missions that challenge your computer you will see no benefit from time acceleration and your game will even operate slow-motion. 1

Basically it’s a continuum where eventually if the mission is too heavy for your system then even 1x isn’t 1x anymore. In a heavy mission I’m not even seeing a true 2x...it’s more like 1.5x The only time I see 8x actually being 8x is a very light test mission with no real logic to speak of. As soon as I have a few aircraft, and/or a handful of vehicles then time accell begins to go away on a very steep curve. It will be interesting to see what difference my 5800x/5900x build makes in this area. From early benchmarks it seems that hardware is catching up. 1

I have a beefy system: Intel I9 9900K OC TO 4.8, RTX 2080Ti 11GB, 32 GB ram. And i experience the same issues.

It's no panacea, but faster CPUs do increase the maximum tolerable mission complexity.

I expect Intel will have a solid answer soon. But these new Zen 3 chips are definitely a leap forward.

Yep I’m looking forward to running some IL2 benchmarks with the 5800x. Based on Intels recent (last decade) lack of significant performance gains, I’m guessing that AMD will remain on top for a while now - since they already have an answer in the oven for Intel’s Rocket Lake I’m sure. Intel is good at catchy names, less astute at performance gains to match unfortunately. 5 years after I built my i5 2500k machine, I went to do some shopping around and they’d managed to make a whopping 23% gain in those years. That’s when I went back to AMD

I just tested this with a CPU intensive mission. Against 9900K and a 3600X from a friend I was able to have 1.2 accel on x2. Both of them suffered from at least 10 seconds of delay on 1x. Rheinland test mission full of bombers. Been playing career for a week in heavy and not seen a slowdown yet. The only instance was in PWCG with all maxed out activity, but really doable. Hope this helps. In normal campaings / missions this shouldn't be an issue with a new Ryzen or at least, harder to achieve. To be honest, the FPS improvement and this new capacity is making Il-2 a lot better. Many more aircraft in the sky and no more issues on my end. Can't wait to cross teh Channel with some Spitfire squadrons. Edited November 24, 2020 by LF_Gallahad

Better to go higher ground for ground attack and bomber campaigns and higher air for fighter campaigns. I have a pretty good system these days and I would not try running maxed out on everything. Honestly, in PWCG I think medium air activity gives you way more than areal pilot would see.

That will happen a lot in Gambit's Hell Hawks Edited December 2, 2020 by Jaegermeister
