Can't seem to reduce resolution to a size smaller than my desktop

Can't seem to play in any resolution on full screen besides my desktop resolution. Anyone run into this issue? Any smaller resolution I pick just adds massive black bars around the side of the screen. I am not playing in VR. Startup config has the desired resolution and full screen is set to 1. Not sure what to do. I am having a difficult time finding contacts as I fly so hoping to try to downsize the resolution so things are bigger on my screen. Super surprised this isn't a common question in the forums or on reddit.

What is your monitors native resolution, and what resolution are you trying to get? 

 

There are U-tube videos about helping players spot other aircraft.

 

I have found that with this game it actually is best to use the highest resolution your monitor is capable of.  Adjusting the Contrast and Gamma settings seem to help.

 

Whatever you do, spotting others will always be a challenge.

I use 2560x1440.

 

I checked out the spotting videos and it did help a lot but still difficult.

if your native is higher than your game settings then untick full screen in the game as your gfx driver is probably set to centered..
