cardboard_killer Posted November 18, 2020 Posted November 18, 2020 In what was surely a sign of the end of the u-boat scourge, 80 years ago today: "• In an Atlantic operation a U-boat approaching a convoy is detected by a Mark I Sunderland flying boat fitted with an experimental Air to Surface Vessel (ASV1) radar set. This is the first time such a location has been achieved by airborne radar in operational conditions. The Mark II Sunderland will be put into production shortly with ASV2 meter wavelength radar. "
