Pe2 Bombsight key commands?

Recommended Posts

I was trying some bombing runs and figured out " I dont know what im doing" Now I know they just put up a guide, but..

What are the key commands ...I know 'V" gets you to the bombsight...but thats about it...Can you move the bombing reticle? Also , they said something about bombsight modes ...How do you change between them?

Thanks in advance!

P.S.  IL2 BOS is REALLY turning out to be best sim ever!!! :)

You can adjust bombsight parameters with mouse.

Hey Gen,

Are you talking about clicking on ...Altimeter, speed, and wind etc..? If so yea I can do that ...but I was wondering of actually moving the sight ..

like forward to find target..

Thanks

you mean bombsight elevation etc?

it seems to be done automatically, if you increase wind speed you can see the bombsight moving forward.

It seems you have to wait till you intstalled today's patch. Bombsight modes and view angle will be available in the bombsight screen after that and are not in it yet.

If you are used to "il-2'46" bombers, forget this procedures. :P

Enable Level Autopilot

Adjust the Altitude dial with the indicated one in Altimeter (click and drag with mouse).

Adjust the Speed with the one indicated  in IAS indicator - no TAS>IAS conversion needed (click and drag with mouse).

Wind adjust is a bit trick: (plane heading - wind direction) modulo 180 = bombsight setting

Adjust in Left or Right side if are flying downwind or against the wind.

I dont know if is need use reciprocal wind direction (briefing weather report say TO or FROM?)... Explained, with a utility (Turtlecalc) to calculate the angle here:

Which game is this taken from?

Autopilot wants to turn the plane - is there a level stabilizer ?  I see the RShift Arrow up/down to control it, but how about 'level' ?

The first "Autopilot" command is for AI fly the plane through waypoints, etc - as set in mission file.

The second is for AI fly the plane on HDG, speed and altitude set by pilot - use for level bombing (or long travels) - moving the joystick disengage (like on air start quick missions).

Third and fourth is for adjust right/left the HDG when "AI-Autopilot for level flight" is engaged, what can be done by keys/buttons or click and drag with mouse on "bombsight" interface.

I cut the keys part because mine is not default ones.

Wind direction is always FROM.

In the western world yes.

In Russia it is not. There the wind is given in a direction too.

Just like we (in the west) report anything else. Current, roads etc are all pointing to something. Only wind is reported from.

When you think of it, the Russian way is more consistent.

Adjusting the "Wind Angle":

(Plane heading - wind direction) modulo 180 = Wind Angle adjusting.

Plane against wind move to left, plane downwind move to right.
