Is it possible to 'spawn' craters?

As the title says, is it possible to 'spawn' craters? I am working on a co-op mission where you are defending an airbase from bombers, some of them will always get through but when you return to base the airfield looks barely damaged. I am going to add some smoke effects to the damaged buildings on a timer but would love to add some craters to the runway as well. Any ideas on how to do this?

No it isn't

If it was I/we would have created logic to disable airfields with craters (based on bomb hits) a long time ago.

Bugger, when searching for the answer I saw you had discussed it a few times but not recently so I was hoping maybe there had been a change. Thanks for the quick reply!

No problem.

Spawnable non-entity objects (not an aircraft or vehicle etc) would be handy for a few reasons, but craters are the biggie.

There was something on the DED Stalingrad map last year that was invisible and about a meter high. It was placed accidentally on the airfield and would disable your aircraft if you didn't know it was there. It essentially worked as a crater and wrecked a lot of landing gears/aircraft. Wonder if it could be placed on purpose in association with a crater decal?

Yeah, that's a 'fake_block' entity you're talking about HerrMurf. It's an invisible block to allow you to fire off events. However, no matter what, the ground entities, which 'craters' fall into, can't be set to disabled/enabled. They're either in existence at the start of the map, because the mission designer added them, or they're not, because the mission designer didn't include them.

These entity groups will always exist in a mission, from mission start, and can't be turned off, if a mission designer includes them in the mission.

I am also missing the fact that we cannot delete, spawn blocks even if we can create a linked entity with a block and acces the damage level of the block.
