I am not an expert of gaming video cards so I depend on other Gamers for advice. I would like a card with "toe room" for sure. Like Browning said it's probably best if you let us know what you have currently right now so we can best advise you. Judging from how old your current GPU is, your whole computer might need a change, including motherboard and CPU Edited December 7, 2020 by Tipsi

OlPaint01 Posted December 7, 2020 Posted December 7, 2020 (edited) How do I obtain my Computer Specs for you to make a recommendation of a replacement video card. I thought DXDIAG was a good source of the specs. I am a casual gamer and I have been flying "Rise of Flight" by 777 Studios and 'Wings over Flanders Fields" by OBD Software. I am really not interested in replacing the Mother Board with a more powerful CPU at this time. I just want to be able to play the Flying games that are on Steam DLC.particularly the "IL-2 Strumovik: Great Battles" genre of games. I am willing to configure the games with lower detail settings, shaders off, etc, to make them run. I am already invested in the " Flying Circus Volume 1", " Battle of Stalingrad" and "Cliffs of Dover Blitz" and was disappointed that all these games throw a D3D error 0x887a0004 when I try to play the games on the Steam Platform. DD_FT- Posted December 7, 2020 Posted December 7, 2020 Even with a later graphics card it will be like pulling a nice big new twin axle caravan with an original VW Beetle (35HP) ... Up hill. And sure, you can try and remove the aircon and fridge and whatever from that caravan to lighten the load ... but in the end... Nope. As others stated, your system does not meet the minimum specs... Your CPU is a Core2 Duo @2.7Ghz. CPU: Intel® Core™ i5/i7 2.8 ГГц Just my take on it... sorry...

OlPaint01 Posted December 10, 2020 Posted December 10, 2020 So DD_FT-, even if I upgrade my video card to a GTX1070 or better, your view is that I must upgrade my P5K mother board processor to an Intel® Core™ i5/i7 3 GHz processor. as well in order to run the IL-1 Sturmovik genre of games. Well maybe it is time to rebuilt my box Well I am convinced that my tower is old technology. It will never run the IL-2 Strumovik high end games. I am pricing out an new ASUS mobo with bundled i7 CPU from NewEgg and DDR4 ram sticks to populate it. I am looking for a GTX 1660ti gaming card now. These graphics cards are hard to find in stock anywhere.

Meaning: Will all of the modern bits fit your case/box? Will the power supply be able to handle it? Does it have all the necessary connections/plugs? Please do check and verify whether you need other new bits as well!
OlPaint01 Posted December 11, 2020 Posted December 11, 2020 (edited) Well DD_FT, I am biting the bullet. I got an ASUS Prime Z490A mobo with a i7 CPU bundled coming. I ordered the DDR4 ram to fully populate the memory slots. I have a Gigabyte GeForce GTX 1660ti on order. I plan to swap out my tower guts to build a new computer. I will need a new power supply as well. I should then have a good gaming machine capable to playing the IL-2 modern genre of games. Thanks for the great advice. totalize Posted January 8, 2021 Posted January 8, 2021 What is going on with this game. Since the latest IL2 update multiple crashes.
RedKestrel Posted January 8, 2021 Posted January 8, 2021 If you are on Steam, you can usually verify the game files through the Steam client to find corrupted files. It might fix that problem. Also, do you have any mods active? D3D errors in game sometimes mean a failing graphics card, or one that is overheating. It comes up on the forums pretty often, and it seems sometimes it happens in Il-2 before it happens in other games.
Sokol1 Posted January 8, 2021 Posted January 8, 2021 After latest update I have several errors when click in Launcher or il2.exe, solve reinstalling VCRedist (game folder > data > updater > 3rd_party)
