Starting the game/sim...

Does it make a difference if you start the game with the desktop shortcut or through the STEAM app?

Hi,

 

I'm not sure about this 100%. But there was a period where launching the game via STEAM you could get some issues.

Nevertheless, I created a shortcut from the beginning and never launched the game via STEAM.

i sometimes start it via steam app, no issues

If you bought from Steam use Steam, especially if you linked your website User Account and it's content. If you only bought from us directly just use our Launcher.

if you bought it on steam and you run it without you run into troubles at some point.

I didn't even know, it is possible to start a Steam version without running Steam. I always start the game with the desktop icon, but even when I exited Steam before, it will start first, and then the game starts.

I run it through steam and it works fine 99% of the time.

No, no - this is a misunderstanding. It's never been said, that IL2 Great Battles under STEAM runs without it. It's just that you can start IL2 Great Battles directly from

a shortcut without needing to open STEAM, but STEAM needs to be be active in the background. That's all about.

 

If you don't run STEAM in the background or minimized and you start the game via shortcut, usually STEAM will be started in the background - but this may cause

some trouble sometimes.

Thanks for claryfication. I have no experience with that, as Steam always starts with the computer, no matter if I am online or offline. And you can always run Steam offline.
