JG1_Wittmann Posted November 9, 2020 Posted November 9, 2020 "gunlock" aspect..... this function is included for realism . This comment was in another thread, and I'm not good at quoting etc. Can someone please explain to me how this new feature we got from the developers gives us any more realism ? I think the whole thing is a crock, or at the very least, very poorly implemented. Here is what I understand is that this position was used during transport, most certainly not in battle. It's not even 100% consistent in how it behaves. The player should have a check box that he does not allow this to go into transport mode. I could very well imagine a gunner, being severely reprimanded, possibly executed by a tank commander, if during battle, he let the gun get stowed to an upright position, that was finicky to get out of and get moving, all the while starting out 20 degrees or more too high in elevation. But commander, we missed the opportunity for the shot because I let the gun go into gunlock mode ! Or, no answer, because such a move got the entire crew killed. I do not have a 4 or 5 man crew. I play all the crew positions. When I go to my gun, set the range, put the gun at the elevation I want, and rotate the turret X amount of degrees I want it to stay there. Alot of times, I see the message the turret is shutting off and the gun moves. If I move positions often enough it doesn't but as soon as I enter the gunner, it tries to shut off and move. I have to hit the take control key immediately to lessen the damage from a gun move I didn't make, and didn't want. IF someone told the developers that this is or was realistic and they believed that person, they need to re-evaluate and do not take any further from that direction. I have been unbuttoned using binocs and the turret shuts off and the gun obscures my 12 oclock view in or out of binocs. How realistic is that ? When I initially go to gunner position and take control of gun, I want that gun ready for action at all times, not moved to a transport or stowage position in the middle of battle. Also worth mentioning,,,, When in binocs , we need an arrow, like we have gun train relative to the hull to tell us commander head position, in train, relative to the gun. We don't have that. If you were standing there you would have a good idea how far you had turned your head. You don't get that sensation with a mouse, so we need a pointer. Last item is seeing a commander standing up out of the commanders hatch. Yeah, the uni looks real nifty and I'm glad for the time spent on it and others ! Unfortunately, that clown is blocking a large, wide, part of my 6 view. If you haven't seen this, open commander hatch. Move forward, once you get so far the commander pops up behind you, blocking your view and ruining your chance for good SA. This needs to be removed. When a person is in commander, etc and opens the hatch, the only crew member he should be able to see is another crew member that has popped out of a different hatch, not him/herself. 1
