grcurmudgeon Posted November 9, 2020 Posted November 9, 2020 I see bits of this info scattered around in some places, but the fundamental question I have is: what tools are good for figuring out performance issues in il-2? The game has a built-in frame counter, and I can run Task Manager in the background to see CPU usage, or I just recently started turning on the small performance panel in GeForce Experience (ALT+R) which shows GPU/CPU usage, but I understand CPU usage counters are tricky in il-2 because the main bottleneck thread can jump CPUs, so it's tricky to know if you are really CPU limited vs GPU limited. I see mention of fpsvr, but I'm not running VR at the moment. So what sort of tools are the experts using to capture GPU load, CPU load (frequency, temp?), frame times, and anything else useful while the game is running to see what you need to focus on next? This would include providing graphs of how these changed over time.
=RS=Stix_09 Posted November 17, 2020 Posted November 17, 2020 (edited) MSI afterburner prob has the most comprehensive set of tools to monitor in game performance. (Its does a lot more that just monitor , it can be used to up or downclock the GPU. I use it to limit my gpu to max 60 deg Celsius temperature) This is how I set it up when I want to monitor and tune my hardware, I can toggle it on and off with a hot key Also tools like HWiNFO64 also can work with afterburner (the bottom motherboard temperatures are coming from this and displayed in game with afterburner) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X028D73ES08 https://www.msi.com/Landing/afterburner https://www.hwinfo.com/ Edited November 17, 2020 by =RS=Stix_09 1
