Blitzen Posted November 6, 2020 Posted November 6, 2020 (edited) ( Please note : "Just the facts,Mam...Just the facts") GB has just introduced its new Hurricane and it may be too soon to ask but; has anyone had the chance to compare them performance -wise? I have loved the CloD Hurricane from the first & have been playing around with the new ones introduced in DWT. I've thought the interior & exterior & battle damage model on the CloD to be really quite good despite its age .Of course the GB model is beautiful as well and I'm not sure how to ask this next but I'll try ; is the modeling of the new Hurricane that much better because it is using newer techniques in poly count etc.? I probably would be hard pressed to tell the difference, but others more knowledgeable might be able to fill me in if they cared to...? Edited November 6, 2020 by Blitzen 1
Guest deleted@210880 Posted November 9, 2020 Posted November 9, 2020 I come from a line of thought for sims that it is not what they look like but what they offer as an experience that matters. Historically sims have always looked worse than other games because that is their very nature, to put their efforts into simulating a particular experience, to make you think and do things, not just look at the graphics; in fact if done well you end up looking past the graphics at the dials or whatever. Of course graphcs matter to a point, and there needs to be a smooth performance of graphics, but I would suggest that for combat flight sims the base level of graphics required to lose yourself in the simulated world and yet still have some 'wow' moments has been reached long ago and is currently present in BoX, CLoD, DCS and indeed even WotR. All of them can present screenshots that are more beautiful than my eyes perceive when I am actually flying in them (sadly the performance in WoTR is not good enough for me). My point is that if I'm enjoying my mission, dogfighting or navigating etc. I do not actually notice the graphical difference between a Hurricane in each game, it is the simulated elements that matter, and afterwards it's not the graphics that runs thorugh my head, bu the moment that my rounds hit, or I was jumped I nursed an engine etc. So, what I am saying is that the modelling doesn't matter to me, it is the experience of events in -game that does (and mission design, community makeup, behaviour of players).
Angry_Kitten Posted July 5, 2021 Posted July 5, 2021 the hurricane in box is decent, far more powerful then the spitfire vb. but the question, is it the same as the older version in CloD? no is it as fun? no Its polished, good graphics, responsive. But it just doesnt feel like the rotol version at all, doesnt have the same sense of purpose. But neither does BoX.... have the same sense of purpose, feel, mentality.
