[80 Years ago today] "• Hermann Göring issues an order to loot the art treasures at the Louvre Museum in Paris, France, which are to be distributed to German museums and private collections of Nazi leaders, with a large portion of the art reserved for himself.

• The General Aircraft GAL.48 Hotspur has its first flight. Initially intended to be an assault glider on the model of the German DFS-230 which carries nine troops, the Hotspur can carry eight. It will be decided to develop a more capable glider for combat operations and use the Hotspurs for training. 1,015 will be built."
