Mystic_Mungus Posted November 5, 2020 Posted November 5, 2020 I recently got the Ju-52 as it looked rather fun to fly and drop paratroopers on my favorite multiplayer server. I am a mouse aim user, and do to the limitations mouse aim brings I primarily fly bomber aircraft and in this case the transport Ju-52. A friend of mine (who also uses mouse aim) got it as well and we both struggle to get it off of the airfield. If we put the throttle to 100% only engine number 2 goes to 100%, while engine 1 and 3 constantly shift from 16% to 100% making it very difficult or nigh impossible to take off. It feels like engine 1 and 3 are tied to the rudder controls, as any movement of the mouse left and right (which move the rudder pedals) changes the throttle percentage drastically. As a mouse aim user you have to struggle to try to center your mouse in a specific and shifting area as the aircraft picks up speed and pray you don't hit the trees of the surrounding forests before you take off. I'm assuming this isn't an issue for joystick users, as I've watched videos of people taking off with the ju-52 with the joystick and all three throttle stay at 100%. It is kind of jarring seeing the throttles shoot from 16% to 100% and everything in-between during take off when I know I'm doing an input to do that. I would like to see this fixed so I can enjoy the Ju-52 and consistently take off with it instead of it feeling kinda up to RNG in a sense. Thank you for reading.

It seems likely that you have some keybinding issues going on. Possibly you have engine 1 and 3 throttles tied to the same controls as your rudder...also, make sure that when you are flying, you have All Engines selected. Keep an eye on the throttle quadrant in the cockpit - when you throttle up, you should expect to see all the throttle levers moving. If they don't, you may not have all the engines selected properly, and if they move sporadically, its possible you have a keybinding conflict. Can you post a screenshot of your keybindings?

I have all engines selected I can assure you, and I've tried selecting them individually or just the two outer ones or deselecting the outer ones after putting them to 100% throttle and it all still happens. The throttle will go up to 100% and without any of my input but the movement of my mouse it'll jostle the throttle from high to low positions. I have basically all default controls except for some radiator controls I had to set due to not have an R-Windows key. I don't know what controls exactly you need so I'll just send you all of the plane controls. If you need me to send controls from another group of key mappings do ask me to.

Can you post the Plane Engine controls? Might be able to see if there's a problem there. There's no reason why moving the mouse cursor should cause the throttles to move unless its a bug OR the mouse movement is assigned to the throttle somehow. Do the throttle levers in the cockpit actually move, or just the percentage on the tech tips?

Maybe the aircraft's engines are tied to the rudder pedals while taxiing to allow for "easier" taxiing? Maybe you could test it if you have a joystick by trying to take off with 100% throttle but constantly moving the rudder pedals into different positions? But anyway, if there is a conflicting keybind the devs should make it so the default doesn't have any conflicting keybinds.

Under engine throttles control, you have the mouse wheel bound as well as "Joy0_axis_z". Do you have a joystick hooked up that you're not using? If so, the game could be reading the throttle setting from that axis and jumping around because it is conflicted between the keys and that axis. If you don't have a joystick, I think maybe that is actually seeing your mouse movement as a "z" axis and screwing with your engines. Try de-binding that, so it is just your mouse wheel bound, or just the keyboard keys.

It always tries to keep the aircraft pointed toward the mouse cursor. On most aircraft, this works just fine. However, the system has strange consequences due to the unique design of the Ju 52 controls. The 0 - 20% throttle range is used for wheel brakes. Therefore, the mouse aim system manipulates the throttles whenever it tries to steer the aircraft by applying the brakes. I don't think there is any way to avoid this while using mouse aim. Wow, I had no idea. Never flown the Ju-52 myself, I just thought it was a bug or a keybinding issue...

Maybe they could add a keybind to disable braking on the Ju-52 for when you get on the runway? It'll force you to take off with only the rudder, but I think that is better than the constant throttle shifts. Or maybe to make it so that the plane will only brake using the throttle when you use the brake keys or manually lower the throttle to below 20% . Anywho, thank you for your help.
