Just try having more than 20 folks in a server and watch it crap out on ya. I love dcs for what it is just as I love rof and BoS (not a clod player but accepting in its following) for what they are. Different and excellent in their own rights.

I feel there's a lot more similarities in BoS and CloD than most people give credit for in regards to gameplay, fidelity, and engine capability...which is what creates this huge schism that we've all grown to know and "love". It's really really really silly...I've even been banned from ATAG forums and servers simply for discussing and inquiring about CloD's vs BoS's online netcode and engine capabilities in an openly stated non-malicious or confrontational manner (I was genuinely curious about what the difference was since I don't own a server or create missions yet). Granted clod will continue to be advanced through a very competent modding team, but like all modding teams who do it out of love rather than financial gain it will lose pace. BoS is where the future lies as more arenas and planes are released over its development. Ultimately all,of the above mentioned sims are owned by a great many of the same ppl. I own em all and switch around between them as and when the notion takes me. I'm not alone in this either. Success for a developer is measured in financial gain and that happens through creating the product people want. I doubt any ww2 combat flight sim developers are holidaying in the Bahamas from the sale of rof, clod, dcs or any future product just yet. We just don't have the community atm. For me, what holds us back is current net code versus complexity of simulation versus graphical fidelity. All of the titles to date suffer in one of those areas. At least BoS admits what they can achieve up front. Then they stick to their guns. To me that's better than a pile of fairy tale hopes and candy floss.

This game feels nothing like War Thunder on FRB/SB, IMO. This statement is subjective, at best. By the way, just because Cliffs of Dover has a "Toggle fuel cock" function during startup does not mean it is any more complex in startup/engine management than Battle of Stalingrad...people here need to stop kidding themselves. OP, you'll find a lot of people extremely eager to give their opinions on Battle of Stalingrad and Cliffs of Dover since there seems to be a "my game is better than yours" mentality between the two communities. It seems there are entire squadron organizations that are based on downplaying either BoS or CloD, just beware that you don't get roped into the arguments...I recommend you come out on top and enjoy both Battle of Stalingrad and Cliffs of Dover...they are a definite step in the right direction from where you're coming from right now. I made a rule that I wouldnt Slag Off BOS on ATAG Forums or Slag off ATAG on BOS Forums..But that's just me ! With these posts,Its like some people have an Axe to Grind as soon as COD is mentioned.(Hyeenas ,Hiding and waiting ,watching to see whos wininng before they Bite the Loser ....or letting someone else start the Fight before they jump in ! You Know who YOU are ! I think COD is without doubt,the best WW2 sim available NOW...But that's just me !. It has had Chequered history but with a lot of "Aftermarket" work it has become the "Benchmark" WW2 Sim. Despite all the problems with its initial release COD now has 50-100 pilots flyin on any weekend night...Due to ATAG and TFs efforts. Does that make me a Fanboi ?..YES ! Unashamedly ! So now,Im part of BOSs Development and looking forward to the next 50%...I sincerely hope BOS is managed better than COD was...So Far it appears to be. There is room on my Hardrive for BOS and COD,both providing a WW2 sim in different ways(BOS at 50%),being the only 2 WW2 Flight Sims we have. And im a Fanboi of BOS ,YES unashamedly ! We are very lucky to have such good choices.... ~S~ 3
