343KKT_Kintaro Posted October 31, 2020 Posted October 31, 2020 Hi all. What happens if one dogfight server includes flyable CR.42s on the Channel map (Summer 1940)? Possessors of the Tobruk add-on can select the CR.42 and those who only possess "BLITZ" see the CR.42... but cannot select it? How these things work in the servers?
DD_FT- Posted October 31, 2020 Posted October 31, 2020 In order to have the CR-42 available, the server must have the Tobruk content 'enabled' in the mission. And if that is the case, Blitz-only users cannot connect to that server ... Could not test this fully, as I am not a Blitz-only pilot... 1

Just as I am not either, but thank you anyway as you gave a potential answer to my question. Shouldn't be difficult to proceed to a test... is anybody available for making his computer a test server? how can I do it myself? Is anybody here a BLITZ-only possessor, accepting to test that?

This question was asked a few times after launch and the answer was a clear no, assets are in no way interchangeable. So if you want to have something from Tobruk in a mp mission, server needs to have the expansion and Blitz only players won’t be able to join. The questions were specifically more in line with “can I play on the Tobruk map flying my Bf 109E or Spitfire Ia from BoB” pretty much like BoS allows. Maybe you can still find one of the answers to the questions in a thread but I guess that wouldn't be easy.

My question now is "Can I play on the Channel map, flying my BLITZ aircraft, and other players fly their CR.42s because they are possessors of the Tobruk add-on while I am a possessor of BLITZ only". PS: I DO possess both BLITZ and Tobruk. The above question is only for the sake of argument.

Just saw proof of this: I had been editing the DangerDogz Bob map/mission, just changed some stuff, not adding anything new or Tobruk related. The Full Mission Builder however, added the line tobruk.100 to the mission file. Automatically. No questions asked. Then we got a message from a Blitz only user he could no longer connect to our Bob mission/server. So, I manually removed that one line... and all is good again for him... So, I need to remember this as of now, each and every time I edit a BoB only mission in the FMB: Remove the tobruk.100 line if it indeed is being used on a BoB - NonTobruk mission/server! 1

My answer in the first paragraph applies to your question as well, since the reason why it doesn’t work, like I explained, is the same independently if you (or someone else) are trying to have a Tobruk asset in the channel map or the Tobruk map. Or if you are flying this or that plane. Like FT already proved, as soon as you add a Tobruk asset into the mission, It’s Tobruk owners only. Edited November 1, 2020 by 9./JG52_J-HAT 1 1
