AFAIK there were no German destroyers in the Black Sea, so it's not really that strange. If anything, additional Romanian naval units would be more appropriate.

We might get some additional german ships with the Normandy release, maybe an torpedoboat (which is similar in size to an destroyer) since they where used during the Normandy operation.

Could have this ship, the NMS Amiral Murgescu. Was also in IL-2 1946.

With BOK there was a german S-Boat added as well. And it is 120m (Destroyer) versus 35m (S-Boat), so not even near the same size.

The much larger vessels of the 'Wolf', 'Möwe' and 'T 22' classes were present during the Normandy operations.

The Type 23 87m, Type 24 93m and Type 39 102m (All considered torpedo boats) where active during the Normandy campaign on the map, they where armed from 3 to 4 10.5 cm cannons.

It can be confusing though since the S-Boats are often also seen an torpedo boats.

Yes, I see. Those ships were in fact small destroyers or escort destroyers, named as torpedo boats, because of the Versailles Treaty, which allowed Germany the building of 12 torpedo boats.

I don't know, how actice they were during Normandy, but, yes, they might be an interesting adding. At least, it seems the British were pretty in fear of them, when preparing the landing and tried to destroy them before the landing started.

It is not the S-Boats, that are confusing, as those are the real torpedo boats of the Wehrmacht.

There was the Battle of Ushant on June 9: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Battle_of_Ushant_(1944)

Appart from the topedo boats already mentioned, German ship types that were active in the area of the Normandy map are:

Artilleriefährprähme

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Marinefährprahm

M-boats (Minensuchboote)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/M-class_minesweeper_(Germany)

R-boats (Räumboote)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/R_boat

S-boats (Schnellboote)

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/E-boat

Vorpostenboote

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vorpostenboot

Especially Artilleriefährprähme and R-boats would also be useful for the Kuban map.

Didn't the Germans sent S-boats and U-boats (?) partly by train to the Black Sea?

IIRC I read in the book 'Schnellboote vor!' about that. Long ago.
