Exactly what the night witches first mission entailed (and when it happened) is disputed between sources. Almost certainly they flew with bombs only, were entirely unarmed otherwise, and had no radios. Front and rear firing machine guns and rockets have been allowed in mission for variety and game play, and a forward rearming airstrip has been added so that the harassment can continue unimpeded and repeatedly.
