SAG Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 Dear Devs, The La.5's "Spanish" skin is a little wrong RevoluTion is English RevoluCión is in Spanish Viva la Revolution... is SpanGlish just a minor complaint but ive always wondered how many spanish speaking people have seen this and laughed XD I'm sure that the artists can correct this in two minutes when they have the time of course 3
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 I missed that, well spotted! Send a PM to BlackSix so that he can get in touch with The Skin Guy to rectify that
SAG Posted November 5, 2016 Author Posted November 5, 2016 well ill do it! if is that easy to get going then i guess i will :D I missed that, well spotted! Send a PM to BlackSix so that he can get in touch with The Skin Guy to rectify that
HR_Tofolo Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 The skin has another questionable mistake which is the literal transaltion from the CCCP initials (URSS in spanish, not SSSR) However I think that the problem does not come from the BoS skinner but from the sources in which he based it. Try to search profiles from Vicente Beltrán and his La-5 on the internet. You'll see so many different profiles... What it would be best of course would be a photograph of it, which I have never been able to find. Should you find one please let us know. 2
ShamrockOneFive Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 This is an interesting one... There are cases where the sides of aircraft have inscriptions that were not written accurately. Sometimes with spelling mistakes and the like. Is it possible that this is one of those cases?
Jade_Monkey Posted November 5, 2016 Posted November 5, 2016 Yeah SSSR makes no sense, it's URSS in spanish. Like you said, the question is whether the real skin also had the mistake.
SAG Posted November 6, 2016 Author Posted November 6, 2016 Yeah SSSR makes no sense, it's URSS in spanish. Like you said, the question is whether the real skin also had the mistake. yes i also thought of talking about USSR as well but then i googled it and it does mean the same but in a different language so that i think its ok but revoluTion its a little cringey to me, but if its historically accurate than just let it be and ill cal it an easter-egg! :D
ShamrockOneFive Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 yes i also thought of talking about USSR as well but then i googled it and it does mean the same but in a different language so that i think its ok but revoluTion its a little cringey to me, but if its historically accurate than just let it be and ill cal it an easter-egg! :D History is quirky like that I tried doing a bit of a dive into Google image search for a while trying to find a photo of this plane but no luck. Just profiles and they repeat the same "mistake".
216th_Lucas_From_Hell Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 Funnily enough, on Wings Palette there is also a profile which has the inscription written in Spanish, but using Cyrillic instead of Latin letters to achieve the same pronunciation. I wonder if it has any merit, it's an interesting interpretation since it would allow the Russian-speaking regimental mates to say it properly.
HR_Tofolo Posted November 6, 2016 Posted November 6, 2016 (edited) This has been a very discussed topic on modelism: http://sovietwarplanes.com/board/index.php?topic=411.0 http://unosetentaydos.mforos.com/1631405/11705557-lavochkin-la-5-espanoles-en-la-vv-s-aml-1-72/?pag=2 It seems that all are variants of some artist's impression. Some profiles, choose the one you like the most (The one Lucas talked about) Edited November 6, 2016 by HR_Tofolo 1
Batmack89 Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 I just checked it out, there is a "Spanish" skin for the La-5 Series 8 with "Viva la revolution socialista en la SSSR", but it should read "Revolucion" in Spanish, with a C instead of a T. Not that it is game breaking nor anything, but i guessed it would be something relatively easy to fix.
1CGS -DED-Rapidus Posted October 30, 2020 1CGS Posted October 30, 2020 @Batmack89, thank you, but the error means it was already in the original model that the skin was drawn from) we'll check the original source.
