J2_Trupobaw Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 (edited) Hey guys, today (28th) 104 years pass since death in action of father of air combat tactics (and J2 patron), Oswald Boelcke. Like we did every year, J2 plans to make a memorial flyover at Flugpark, starting at 21:00 GMT. We invite all pilots to join us (regardless of side you happen to be flying - it's gonna be a non-combat flight anyway). Edited October 28, 2020 by J2_Trupobaw 4 1 5
J2_Trupobaw Posted October 28, 2020 Author Posted October 28, 2020 Correction: our planned time is 21 GMT, not 19. Sorry for that. My CET to GMT converter has been demoted and sent to trenches. 1
HagarTheHorrible Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 Just don’t bump into each other. It might be a tad embarrassing, but then again !!!!! 1
=IRFC=Gascan Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 Well that was fun. Nice flight, seeing all those planes together at the same time. Kotori and I (in SE5's) tried to steam the radiators when you called it out, but couldn't heat up fast enough. Good fights afterward, too. Nothin but assists for me, but great fun in the SE5, a flight of Bristols, some high altitude Camels, and finally a flight of Dolphins. Gotta practice stall recovery on the Dolphin, it's nasty! 2
J2_Drookasi Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 A big thank you to all people Central and Allied that joined our 'memorial' flight. Nice chivalry demonstrated by Entente planes flying in formation with the Central ones. Salute all! 1
JGr2/J5_Klugermann Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 Good thing it was done in RoF otherwise most of those Albies wouldn't have made it back. 1

The video in the first post is by an older commemoration flight done indeed in RoF. The 2020 one was done in FC. The Albies made it flying with the engines steaming for about 5 mins with no problems.
JGr2/J5_Klugermann Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 I was referring to Albie wings falling off for no apparent reason.? 1

J2_Jakob Posted October 30, 2020 Posted October 30, 2020 No Albatrosses were harmed during the event. There were some problems in communication on Entente side though. AAA personell was not informed about this temporary suspension of hostilities and the fact resulted in loss of rather fat wings on one of the newer Fokker machines. 3
