=LD=Bulldog* Posted October 27, 2020 Posted October 27, 2020 Hello All, I have just got back into IL-2 after some years and only downloaded Battle of Stalingrad this evening. As it will take some time for me to get back into the skies and feel comfortable, I have: Saitek X-52 Pro throttle (I used this for the original IL-2 without a hitch and like the slide for prop pitch and rotaries for trims) Sidewinder 2 stick (love it). Now, this would appear to be a more complex beast to set up than the original; however, I am experiencing some issues. I have allocated the basics to get used to flying the 109 G2, but for the love of me, I cannot seem to get the software to recognise the rudder pedals as well as the elevator and aileron trims. With that being said, the pedals have been allocated to break for left and right with the toe parts. Any help would be appreciated. Jay CPS Bulldog
Sokol1 Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 YAW (rudder) for some controllers (joysticks...) need be assigned inverted - hold the pedal or twist rudder pressed for right or left and when asked in assignment window, release for the axis be detected. BF 109 has no Elevator or Ailerons trim, use only "Stabilizer Adjust" trim.
=LD=Bulldog* Posted October 28, 2020 Author Posted October 28, 2020 Thank you and will check later. Very much appreciated.
=LD=Bulldog* Posted October 28, 2020 Author Posted October 28, 2020 (edited) Hey Sokol1, Many thanks for your help. I now have the rudder working and thank you. With regards to the Stabilizer Adjust, please do check the attached. Is this correct? I ask as it seems not to do anything when flying. The nose of the 109 keeps rising. At least I landed badly. kestrel79 Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 I map the same buttons for Stabilizer Trim that I do for Elevator Trim. I use the hat switches on my joysticks for trim works great. It depends on the plane which one is which. For a 109 is should be Stabilizer I believe. Welcome back!
=LD=Bulldog* Posted October 28, 2020 Author Posted October 28, 2020 Thanks, Kestrek79. Will try ASAP. I have my flaps on the joystick hat switch and shall try the rotaries once more later! It is good to be back! CPS Bulldog
=LD=Bulldog* Posted October 28, 2020 Author Posted October 28, 2020 First successful landing and thank you. In the 109, do I need to change the radiators and supercharger, etc.? Is there emergency power? Many thanks! CPS Bulldog
Sokol1 Posted October 28, 2020 Posted October 28, 2020 (edited) "Stabilizer Adjust" used by Bf 109 don't work in rotaries, only in buttons or keys, better use HAT for this, you don't use flaps in flight's, only once for landing - and most of virtual flights end without landing, so can set flaps in secondary buttons or key. In Bf 109 don't need control supercharger, is automatic, only radiators. Bf 109 emergence power is controlled by throttle lever, when you move throttle above ~80% the emergency power is engaged - but attention because have limited time before engine goes "kaput". BTW - This tips is for Bf 109, for other planes is different. Even Fw 190 use different commands for "Stabilizer Adjust". Are several guides around, a good one, with links for others more comprehensive at the end: https://www.airgoons.com/w/IL-2_Beginner_Guide Edited October 28, 2020 by Sokol1
=LD=Bulldog* Posted October 29, 2020 Author Posted October 29, 2020 Thank you, kind sir! Incidentally, how do you get the map in game? Apologies as it has been some years since I was an Il-2 pilot!
Sokol1 Posted October 29, 2020 Posted October 29, 2020 The 'M' key bring a small map - more a "GPS screen", showing the surrounds of your plane position, and of course icons if enabled. The O key bring a full screen map - you can't recize; with all scenery map (e.g. Stalingrad) with mission objectives, routes with waypoint's HDG, this map can show your plane actual position (if enabled by the game mode).
