Beebop Posted October 26, 2020 Posted October 26, 2020 I discovered an interesting anomaly on the Velikiye Luki Winter map. There are blank(?) textures at the ends of 'prepared' runways and around revetments on airfields such as the in 0706-8, with Mods Enabled; When mods are disabled this is what you get; This anomaly does not occur on 'unprepared' open fields, that is those with no takeoff 'strip' nor, (that I've seen), on any other winter map or on any summer map including the Velikiye Luki Summer map. Of course the first response is "turn off the mod causing the problem"...except, although mods were enabled in the game via the box tick no mods were enabled through the JSGME and no mods have been loaded directly into any game files. It's truly a Mods On anomaly on this map only. Just pointing this out as I know the Devs will not address the issue so submitting a "bug report" is pointless as allowing any kind of mods is a gift from them and they have better fish to fry. I just think this is odd.
Rjel Posted October 27, 2020 Posted October 27, 2020 Not that this will help with your issue but I always thought the expression was “bigger fish to fry”? Anyway don’t want to derail your thread. As Jimi Hendrix once said “scuze me while I kiss this guy.”
Mitthrawnuruodo Posted October 27, 2020 Posted October 27, 2020 I don't have this issue. What are your settings? Perhaps there is some mod that somehow didn't get uninstalled correctly?

I have no mods that don't install via JSGME and have been tested extensively by the creator's, other users and me. This anomaly ONLY happens on the winter Velikiye Luki map at airfields with a 'prepared' landing strip.

I checked the same airfield at 0706 with mods on, but I didn't see anything unusual. Without being able to reproduce the problem, the only advice that I can think of is reinstallation. Of course, there is also the possibility that it only appears with certain settings or some other conditions. Edited October 27, 2020 by Mitthrawnuruodo
Beebop Posted October 27, 2020 Author Posted October 27, 2020 Thanks for checking and getting back to me. Frankly I can't see re installation for just one map with just a couple of airfield anomalies. I fly and mission build on the summer map a lot more. If it's of any help here are my basic computer specs: * AMD Ryzen 7 1700 CPU * Radeon RX 580 8Gb DDR5 No overclocks. Here are my current in game graphics settings;
FoxbatRU Posted October 27, 2020 Posted October 27, 2020 I had this. These are some accidentally left over pieces of mods. A clean reinstallation of the game helped. The main thing is not to forget to copy the files of the career, campaigns, skins and settings in order to return them back later. 1

Another "Dev Easter Egg"? ? 56 minutes ago, FoxbatRU said: A clean reinstallation of the game helped. But won't necessarily "fix" permanently? Or at least until the next addition? This game is like a Panzer. Extremely well engineered but at the same time over engineered and difficult to fix in the field. And, a "manufacturing plant" continually under attack back home for 'replacement parts'. Or. more simply, "Beauty and the Beast".

But I think that the fact that the game is constantly changing and developing is good. And the good thing is that we can use mods.

I see different symbols on the modules like stars for BOS and BOK and a different stripe pattern for BOM. Is that a Russian thing as I see some are in Cyrillic?) 1

I now have almost all of them in my collection (except for the Yak-9 and the Hurricane). But to draw too lazy.
Beebop Posted October 27, 2020 Author Posted October 27, 2020 OK. Thanks for the info. They look good.
Beebop Posted October 28, 2020 Author Posted October 28, 2020 The re-install did the trick. (It took over four hours to download and install everything. They need a faster FTP over there IMO.) Odd though, when I put back all the saved folders, even though mods were enabled they weren't. Input, missions etc. were fine but I had to unload all my mods and reload them. Everything's Jake now. Thanks for the suggestion FoxbatRU. ? 1
