shamino Posted October 26, 2020 Posted October 26, 2020 Hello I need some help setting up the pilot views. I use a joystick without head tracking and I fly with gradual views enabled, I'm quite happy with it but I would also like to give a quick glance at 180° pressing a single key without changing the camera mode (F9), is this possible? I really can't find a way ti do so...
Mauler Posted October 26, 2020 Posted October 26, 2020 Use your hat switch for view in this scenario (snap view). Also look at zooming out and saving with F10 your view at each 1/4 view so they overlap just a little. This gives you better SA. Use the different clock positions also with the modifier button to get 45 degree up view when pressing with a hat switch view (it looks straight up when you are not using with the hat switch). Finish off by incorporating the newer partial zoom views for searching in combination with hat switch. I use hat switch down for 6 o'clock view - set your preferred zoom and hit F10. You'll need to do this with all the aircraft. It's a bit of a drag but once done it stays. I set it up adhoc until I flew all the aircraft in the sim. Wasn't going to sit there going through the above all at one 1
IL2Battle Posted January 11, 2023 Posted January 11, 2023 If you want to restore default views, you can go to "game main folder"\data\LuaScripts\snapviews and remove that specific aircraft file ( do not delete it yet, if you need to move it back ) somewhere save. Start game and it should create a new default file for that aircraft, check it and if it does, you can delete the old file. Or you can just save your view again. Use - ins, del, home, end, pg up, pg down - keys of your keyboard to move pilot head center/crosshair and mouse to adjust view left, right, up, down and mousewheel or your zoom key to move your pilot head where you want it to be and hit F10 to save new view. If you hit backspace, you get fps and fov numbers to upright corner of your screen. With zoom you can adjust zoom limit, 105 zoom been all the way back and if you save it for that you can't go any more backward with zoom.
Treeburst155 Posted January 12, 2023 Posted January 12, 2023 (edited) Thank you for the comprehensive answer to my question, and all the extra info too! This tops off a great IL-2 day for me. Today, I made my first successful landing! (no damage to plane). ? Edited January 12, 2023 by Treeburst155
