Career pace question

Awfully sorry if this has been covered well already but my google search did not find any info. Is there a way to change the pace of the career? I would like to have a career that does not linger at any airfield nor indeed theatre for too long, with dates flying by quicker. I was hoping the setting for missions awarded per missions flown would have controlled this but when I set it to a high number the dates were just as slow to pass. I know I can request leave but was hoping there was another way?

Take leave.  The war will go on just fine without you for a bit  .  Really, that's what it is there for.  Fly a few missions, take a few days.  Or do like I do: get shot down and injured.  That makes the time go faster.

I like JQB's post: If we could select a setting akin to "Rapid" (or even "Medium") in the game's Career Mode, that would be great.
