jollyjack Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 (edited) 4.501 game version: I have a set of missions, edited and working in the ME and game when located in the folder i edited them in .... I copied them all elsewhere, into a different named folder. All of a sudden the same missions won't load into the ME nor the game, and in the game the folder name does not even show up under missions. What's up? I did this many times before organizing my mission files .... never had an issue. BTW I deleted the ...data\mtreecache and ... data\ctreecache folders ... still NoGo. Sketch Posted October 12, 2020 Posted October 12, 2020 Most likely, the list file and your file's locations do not match anymore. In my pictures below, I have my missions in data/missions/Sketchtastic/Mission Tests/ Here's the location of my mission ^^^ Here's what my list file looks like ^^ So, how can we fix this? The best answer is resaving the mission into your new folder structure. The mission editor will generate a new list file. Steps: Move missions into your new folder structure open Mission Editor run "Resave All Missions in Folder" under the Tools in the menu bar Select the new folder let the Mission Editor do it's thing ??? PROFIT Once you've moved the missions to the new folder, run "Resave All Missions in Folder" and select the new folder structure to run it on. It should auto generate a new list file with the correct folder structure inside the list file. 1
jollyjack Posted October 13, 2020 Author Posted October 13, 2020 (edited) Thnx Sketch. Resave doesn't work for some reason in the new location folder, but the missions run OK from the location folder under missions where i did the editing ... If i check the lst file the new location seems not to be corrected, the media files are pointed wrongly; i'll look further into this .. ADDED: And then i fixed the re-save business. I moved the newly created folder from it's location in the missions folder as subfolder in an existing folder. RE-saving now worked ! Almost looks like there is a maximum limit of folders for the missions folder ... Edited October 13, 2020 by jollyjack
coconut Posted October 13, 2020 Posted October 13, 2020 Delete msnbin files from earlier versions, if any. Also that “-“ in “- games” is asking for trouble. Command line tools, of which the resaver is, sometimes handle leading - specially, typically as the start of a command line switch. Not saying that’s what causing trouble here, but that just triggers quite a few alarms in my programmer’s brain. 1
