Hi guys,

I’d consider myself average on the multiplayer servers. Generally, when I spot the enemy I’m fairly confident I’ll put up a decent fight whether I win or lose. My problem is that often I miss the action, it seems to be happening at other locations. On wings of Liberty I tend to fly 109s and defend the blue icons attacking bombers and such like, should I maybe switch to attacking the fighters that attack our bombers at the red icons (flying as Germany)?

Thanks.

The absolute best way to acheive this is to join other pilots on comms.

Yeah I do that often. Just after some info on what the real experienced pilots tend to do as in defend against bombers or cover friendly bombers.

i have found that plaeyrs tend to go for soft and easy target first, like airfield, or vehicles and tanks are attacked last.  Also targets closest to enemy Spawns tend to be firdt under attack.

So i would suggest u to either defend a soft target closest to enemy airfields or support friendly ground attackers.

If server has low player count, no matter what u do, its going to be hard to find enemies, most of them being on the ground taking off, or on the way to front line at all times.

We usually think through what the enemy is most likely to attack (either based on past experience or "what we'd do") and then go and orbit a certain area looking for enemy aircraft. Sometimes it works and sometimes we fly around for an hour and never see anything - that's rare but it happens.

IMHO definitely best done with a group. More eyes looking makes a big difference in terms of finding the enemy in the first place. Last night three of us were on patrol and only one of us spotted the aircraft. The other two couldn't see but we were keeping our awareness of the potential for other aircraft to approach us.

Either turn on your landing lights or fly around in circles firing bursts of tracer.  The action will come to you, rather than you having to go and find it.

Hi,

Flying over at 2000m altitude and over is safe but it makes spotting difficult.

Flying low (very low) make spotting way easier. But of course it doesn't make you able to engage someone way higher than you.

If you fly defensive, I would suggest to fly not too high and between at least 2 objectives (ideally ahead of them to try to find attackers before they reach it).
If you fly offensive, coordinate with frendly attackers to cover them over an ennemy objective. Tracers and warning messages will attract ennemy fighters most of the time.

I remember that warning messages on WOL that say when an objective is attacked come too late (few minuts after the first damage on the objective). So you can't really count on that.

On Combatbox you have messages when an ennemy is near the objective so it helps to find ennemies.

But there is always a russian roulette factor, depending on the team balance, and because you can't know at 100% where they will decide to attack.
