danielprates Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 If I could give some suggestios to the dev teams, those would be about the view modes. I hope they are not too hardcoded into the game; Tobruk got me all worked up to like this new version of Clod but the clunky view modes are still the same and boy, are they aggravating! I have a feel beefs with it but for now I will invoke only one: why there is no option to configure buttons (the hatswitch for instance) to GRADUAL pan view? I can only pan 45 degrees at a time, whereas with the mouse I have full gradual view as I wish. It seems logical that the game allows for gradual free view, why only with the mouse and not with the joystick hatswitch? is that so hardcoded that it cannot be improved?
Sokol1 Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 ...why there is no option to configure buttons (the hatswitch for instance) to GRADUAL pan view? IMO, because CloD camera control is basically an leftover of il-2:46 = obsolete, and dev's think that everyone use TrackIR. ? So, rest for POV HAT users use an external software for set joystick HAT emulating mouse movement, and use this movement for control camera, plus a button for re-center. This video show what you can achieve using mouse emulation in POV HAT with JoyToKey, link for instructions in video description.
343KKT_Kintaro Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 I purchased my current TrackIR 5 almost12 years ago, but before that I spent years using the "JoyToKey" application. I started using JoyToKey with my POV hat as of 2006, which is the year when I started flying online. If I hadn't had it at the time, I wouldn't have seen a s**t around me. If for some reason you've decided to use your POV hat as the camera view, not your mouse nor a TrackIR device, then JoyToKey is a very practical issue to the problem of a "jolts" POV hat. Danielprates, my advice is as follows: if you can afford it, purchase now a TrackIR (200 US dollars) so that you can make the most of "Cliffs of Dover". If in the future the game becomes VR compatible and you still can afford the expense, then purchase one VR device and sell your second-hand TrackIR. In my case, I'm using the very same copy of one TrackIR 5 for almost 12 years now... and it is still functional, still working, same as if it was completely new.
danielprates Posted October 10, 2020 Author Posted October 10, 2020 Thanks both of you. I do actually have a trackIr device, I just never really got the hang of configuring it to feel comfortable and natural - maybe I could trouble you for your config specs?
9./JG52_J-HAT Posted October 10, 2020 Posted October 10, 2020 Hi Daniel, not Sokol nor Kintaro, but I’ve tried Karaya‘s TrackIR profiles after having lost mine after a long pause in flying. https://theairtacticalassaultgroup.com/forum/showthread.php?t=24298 In the end I made my own though. Took the One:One profile, activated all axis and put the curves to around 15 (the green up arrow so all points move up). Then I took the ones closer to the middle and made a V shape with the lowest point at around 3. I tweaked it so that I could relax my neck and the view wouldn‘t be bouncing around because it was too sensible. But once I move my head a little bit to the sides it doesn’t require going too far to move to check 6, 3/9 or 12 high / dash. Sort of s glance move im increments really. Happy with it.
