5th_Barone Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 Hi all, So back in the days I made some skins, I'll share them here if anyone is interested, if I have time I'm interested in get back to painting if Tobruk templates will be out: 1. Bf-109 E3 Galland Summer 1940 I started with the standard 2048 Checkmysix's template (as always thanks for your work) but because of the camouflage and the new size I had to redone my template from scratch. Was a pretty nice work especially from the emblem on the side that I made it using reference images found on web, using a better process than the one that I used for my Stukas skins. This time I use the paths tool instead of doing it by hand. This is a historical skin representing the 109 flown by Galland in August 1940. Due to the historical reproduction, there is a complete version with hakenkreuz and one without it anyway. You will find 4 different skins. 2 are the 4096 BMP skins (W has the hakenkreuz) 2 are standard 2048 JPG skins (W has the hakenkreuz) Spoiler 4 1
messsucher Posted October 8, 2020 Posted October 8, 2020 Pita can't use quick like. That is a very interesting camo, the sides are light blue and the top side of wings and top of the hull are ground camo. Obviously if looked at from below it would blend better with the sky. Very interested to read how much different camo mattered in WW2 aircraft. Hopefully Google find something ?
5th_Barone Posted October 8, 2020 Author Posted October 8, 2020 Well in my experience when flying in the air, in the right light colours are quite visible, the more bright and different from the environment they are the more visible they are (a yellow cub will be bright as hell ). So I'm sure that camo was quite efficient especially at distance and against the terrain. The ground camo on the hull maybe was justified if the plane was in a shallow turn? I'm just guessing.
