APIKalimba Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 http://www.tomshardware.com/news/Kinect-Xbox-One-Motion-Sensing-Windows-PC,22705.html Could that be a good interface for a sim ? I wonder if it can be progammed to do something close to what TrackIR does.... Salute !
71st_AH_Hooves Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 I think all kinds of cool solutions will be made available for this tech, or at the very least expanded upon. It really does open up the possibility of a true clickable cockpit using your actual hands to reach out a touch a virtual switch or knob. (think steal bataliion, but actually working lol) Though I doubt it will make BOS, the future is very open to this tech being used with VR. Having something always knowing where your hands are in relation to the virtual cockpit, could really tie in those missing control scheme aspects that VR is looking for (no pun intended).
Bearcat Posted May 26, 2013 Posted May 26, 2013 For me clickable pits are overrated.. I would rather have a bunch of realistic commands that I can program to my joystick.
DUTTENHOFER Posted May 27, 2013 Posted May 27, 2013 Kinect attached to anything is absolutely terrible. It doesn't work period. Maybe this next model will fix that somewhat, if the developers weren't too busing watching fantasy football or TELEVISION.
hiro Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 (edited) Well if it can be programmed to do what track IR does, it'd be awesome. This does have great potential, but its early in development. Even the Nintendo WII which is king of the motion sensing for videos, still uses ol' joystick for flight type of games. Maybe the 3rd gen would be good and if paired with a video game immersion studio (kinda like VR but 360 set up with surround sound and holographic screens all around) then possibly. But for the future. The thing with people is tactile aspect . . . I could see this being paired with a uber pit set up like the full on sit inside after burner arcade game / flight training sims . . . Edited June 2, 2013 by hiro
=IRFC=Jorri Posted June 2, 2013 Posted June 2, 2013 Even the Nintendo WII which is king of the motion sensing for videos, still uses ol' joystick for flight type of games. That's because there is no added value in pretending you are holding a joystick, when you could actually be holding a joystick :D
