JihadiJ-Daddy Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 I've recently added a Virpil Control Panel to my T50-CM2 throttle, slaved it via the Ports and set it all up in Virpil Configurator so it is now one device as far as Windows is concerned. My issue is that while BOS will accept key bindings from the Control Panel in Key Mapping, once in the game they have zero effect. Zero! Any ideas on how to fix this? Cheers
Hanu Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 (edited) IL-2 BoX can get only 64 DX buttons per device. The rest you have to re-map to for example virtual joystick with vJoy + Gremlin for example. DCS and MS Flight Sim are the only ones that support >64 buttons. (perhaps up to 128). Many other games stop to 32 buttons for example. But in your case it should be easier NOT to slave it but use it as a separate device. (unless you have too many usb joysticks already) Edit: My Kanttorin Kone throttle has 114 buttons and while you CAN get some inputs while mapping those that are >64, they seem to be just garbage (pov-hats and so on) and do not work, until I re-map them to lower number inputs. JihadiJ-Daddy Posted October 7, 2020 Author Posted October 7, 2020 That's great feedback, Hanu. I was afraid I'd have to learn ANOTHER piece of software on top of Virpil and VKB. There seems to be more info online for Gremlin (via Havoc Co), so I'll probably opt for that one unless you suggest that vJoy may be easier / better / etc. As a matter of interest, does IL-2 CLOD accept even fewer buttons? Thanks for your help mate.
JihadiJ-Daddy Posted October 11, 2020 Author Posted October 11, 2020 UPDATE The Control Panel works if you set it up as a separate USB device. Make sure 1. You clear out the 'Devices' log in IL-2 game settings and 2. force the Virpil Software to set the panel to USB (it keeps trying to default to slaved mode). You'll need to reconfgure BOS Key Inputs, but it's well worth the extra buttons and 2 extra Axes.
Sokol1 Posted October 11, 2020 Posted October 11, 2020 (edited) Quote As a matter of interest, does IL-2 CLOD accept even fewer buttons? Yes, CloD joystick support follow the old 32 buttons (Plus 8 AXES, 4 POV HAT) DImput limit. With the advent of modern VKB, VirPil controllers, people already bring TFS attention to update this, but still... CloD internal files suggest that besides 32 buttons per joystick, their limite is 8 joysticks (all devices that appear in Game Controllers count as "joystick", e.g. TrackIR). BTW - VKB allow you divide their 'sticks in 2, 3 virtual, so overcome this 32 buttons limitation. Edited October 11, 2020 by Sokol1
