Jiggs Posted October 5, 2020 Posted October 5, 2020 I’m going purchase a 49inch ultra wide monitor. Can anyone offer up some advice as to whether or not the game can support a 21:9 or 32:9 aspect ratio? And if you’re using an ultra wide monitor do you like it?
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted October 5, 2020 Posted October 5, 2020 (edited) Yes they are supported . I use 21:9 and it's ok. Edited October 5, 2020 by 1PL-Husar-1Esk
grcurmudgeon Posted October 5, 2020 Posted October 5, 2020 I have a 32" Dell 21:9 that does great with this sim.
Jiggs Posted October 5, 2020 Author Posted October 5, 2020 I appreciate the reply’s I’m looking at a 38inch 21:9
von_Tom Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 (edited) Yes it is supported and yes I liked it. The only thing to appreciate is that you lose some vertical real estate compared to say a 16:10. Personally speaking though VR is the way to go, but that way lies madness and a hardware race with associated cost to get the best fps. von Tom Edited October 6, 2020 by von_Tom
69th_Panp Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 I had a 36 in ultra wide, got rid of it because I got tired of not seeing enough in the vertical. went to a 43 inch 3840x2160 makes it so much better with all around visibility! 1

So true, this is why I never bought one. I still wait for a curved double (and not triple) monitor. This would be two standard 4K monitors side by side into one and curved. As for example I have one 43" 4K 3840x2160 monitor. I would love a double one curved. That is 7680x2160 monitor. Same height and double the width. To be honest a double 40" would be perfect due to screen distance issues.
Akuma Posted May 8, 2021 Posted May 8, 2021 It cuts off verticality for me, does anyone have that problem?

Exactly my same situation: I prefer 16:9 43" 3840*2160. LG. With this screen, I can check ultrawide resolutions like 3840*1600 or 3840*1440. Not comfortable for me. Edited May 8, 2021 by PA_Willy
JG5_Schuck Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 Sorry to ressurect this post, But does 21.9 actually reduce the vertical or extend the horizontal? I have a 2560x1440 (16.9 monitor), and i seen pics and clips of people with 3440x1440 monitors (21.9) and the vertical looks the same as mine (ie the 1440) but they have a wider image that shows more of the peripheral vision. What native aspect ratio does IL2 support 16.9 or 21.9 to fill the whole screen without clipping, or maybe something else? 2560x1440 (16.9) 3840x2160 (16.9) 3440x1400 (21.9) 3840x1600(21.9) 5120x2160 (21.9)
1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted June 30, 2022 Posted June 30, 2022 (edited) whole screen on my 21:9 ratio monitor @3440x1440 Edited June 30, 2022 by 1PL-Husar-1Esk
=FEW=fernando11 Posted July 1, 2022 Posted July 1, 2022 It depends o the resolution. I have a ultrawide 2560x1080 monitor. It "extends" te view to the sides, compared to 16:9 full HD But its "croped" top to bottom compared to a 16:9 1440 monitor. So, on the same vertical "resolution" it extends the image side to side.

Ultrawide monitors are not cropped as far as I know*. They just have more lateral view compared to a 16:9 monitor, no matter the size. The image will remain the same on both aspect ratios, just bigger depending on the screen size. I might be wrong, but as far as I know this is a misconception about ultrawide. *Cropping might occur if the game does not support 21:9, but that's not the fault of the monitor, but the game. 1PL-Husar-1Esk Posted July 29, 2022 Posted July 29, 2022 Guys really ? We need to compare vertical view (who can make screen shots from 21:9 and 16:9 - just spawn in the plane using QMB, don't move, make SS and post it ) to be sure if that is the case. 1
