zelil Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 Why do other players have double or triple the elevator response than I do. Looking at the IL2 control page it has full movement for the device that I use. Even using plus 100 stabilizer or trim is not enough. Our speed is matched and flying the same plane its most obvious. I can watch players slash back and forth at high speed with no issue but I'm stick locked and need trim to budge the stick. Are they using a force feed back stick? Flying the 109 is the worse if I don't set the stab to 0 or greater it will slam the nose back down if left at default while pulling back on the stick an yet other players say they never touch the trim settings. At this point I'm kind of baffled I have tried a Saitek and a Logitech hotas
cardboard_killer Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 Perhaps posting a video example of what you're going through would help us see what might be wrong? Is it only the Bf-109 or do you expereince the problem with all your a/c?
zelil Posted October 4, 2020 Author Posted October 4, 2020 I would say all AC have the issue. I will make a video and post it
=TU=crew379 Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 Been playing 5 years still cant figure this one out some players seem to be able to turn on a dime retain energy but I sure cant lmao
RedKestrel Posted October 4, 2020 Posted October 4, 2020 You need to adjust the trim to turn sharper, because otherwise you are fighting against the trim. If you trim for level flight at 250mph there is probably significant nose-down trim, even if it is at "0", it is just arbitrary. Your ability to turn will also be dependent on your speed. If you are gaining on your opponent and you are faster he will usually have a smaller turn radius, even if your turn rate is higher. Also, every aircraft has a speed at which it achieves its maximum turn rate. Your ability to turn hard without stalling will be dependent on maintaining coordination - if you are yawing while turning one wing will stall before the other which will make you spin. And also, consider that if you are trying to pull lead to fire your guns, you need to be turning not the same rate as your opponent, but at a higher rate than your opponent to keep your gunsight in front of him. So they may not be out turning you in terms of turn rate, but you can't turn hard enough at your speed while on your attack.
Confused_2018 Posted October 5, 2020 Posted October 5, 2020 What are the fuel settings for your a/c? I could not turn with anything, and would very quickly stall. Until I read about dropping fuel to 60-70%, May not be what is happening for you, just a thought.
zelil Posted October 6, 2020 Author Posted October 6, 2020 (edited) mustang I run 27% all other AC 40 to 50% and as i said in the post I always have to use trim even pushing it to +100 for extra tuning, but still other players just ratchet around on rails even at high speeds. Ive seen K4 dive and 850kph and instant swing or V turn I have seen players backflip a 109 doing 400kph it seems impossible for me except if one of the elevator is shot off and i can do any hard turning easily after that since the stab is gone. can it be disabled in control settings?. I'm just wondering about the players who say they never touch the trim and have no issue. Edited October 6, 2020 by zelil
FTC_Zero Posted October 6, 2020 Posted October 6, 2020 (edited) Not sure what the op wanna achieve. Bf109 lock up easily at high speeds, don't expect instant recover or recovery at all. Also you must see the difference in trim method. Most German fighter trimmer have full stabilizer moving which gives better elevator authority. That often helped me recovering from a dive if you go fully tail heavy during dives. But don't expect a 109 to recover in most cases that's an pilot issue. Mustangs have variable trim tabs, that doesn't give the same elevator authority in a curve like a fully movable stabilizer. Also use full throttle power for max turning rate or during dive recovery not opposite. Edited October 6, 2020 by ZeroCrack01
