Sometimes TrackIR stops working, but only for one position.

Sometimes when I am in a tank, and I am switching from position to position, TrackIR stops working, but only for that one position, and I have to use my mouse to look around.  It will continue to work for the other tank positions.

A couple times I feel like I accidently hit a button when it wasn't working and it went back to being active again.  Can anyone tell me if there is a certain key to activate/deactivate head tracking?

To be honest, I dont even use TrackIR in Tanks, just seems like a Hassle to me, even tho I use it exclusively in planes.
I usually just use mouse and keyboard and im more than ok with moving my head with Page up and down etc around.
You should try my way, maybe it suits you more ?

I believe the default TIR pause key is F9

start TIR and look in the HOT keys section

down arrow the actions to the pause and it will show the default or mapped key

It has something to do with the game, and not TrackIR's software, as it still works in the other positions, but not the one position that it somehow got turned off on, such as the commander.

If you us opentrack there's a page you can set fot that, i use Alt-F8 for toggle on-off.

Opentrack has a new update, some bugfixes.

Just answering that aspect of your question

Sounds like you may have the same key bindings for commander  position as turning off TIR
