FlatSpinMan Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 I've been watching lots of Chris Hadfield, the Canadian astronaut, recently and it has reawakened my interest in space and things beyond everyday life. Of course we all want happy, loving successful lives, to be Jessica Alba's underwear (uh-oh - did I just type that?!) etc etc etc etc, but this thread is for you to post about things you seriously want to do someday. For me, there are of course many things, one of which is this: Flying to the edge of space in a MiG-29 http://www.space-affairs.com/index.php?wohin=edge_of_space&subon=11 And another is this: Just larking about in a MiG-29 http://www.migflug.com/en/jet-fighter-flights/flying-with-a-jet/mig-29-fulcrum-in-russia.html?gclid=CPKpltLWqbcCFUhFpQodWGIAEw As you can see, it's not cheap: 11.500 ??????
FlatSpinMan Posted May 22, 2013 Author Posted May 22, 2013 This link, describing flights in the MiG 25, sounds rather 'interesting'. When I first heard about these to the edge of space they were done in the MiG-25. They were subsequently switched to different birds. This link has flights in the MiG-25 again, but it all sounds very mysterious. http://www.space-affairs.com/index.php?wohin=mig25&subon=6
EAF_Stuntman Posted May 23, 2013 Posted May 23, 2013 I would like to have a job in aviation where you save lives. Being a Search & Rescue helicopter pilot and making a direct difference. Sadly I don't have perfect vision. Maybe one day I'll have the privilege to learn how to fly.
MineFewer Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 I want to be paid to drive 40-48 hrs a week around nice neighborhoods in Northern California. I'm doing that now and it seems to be my dream come true, but I'll be checking back on this thread for new ideas. The underwear thing is a promising area!
Skoshi_Tiger Posted May 31, 2013 Posted May 31, 2013 My son (8yr old) is mad keen about the TV show River Monsters I really, really, really want to get out on the boat overnight with him and catch a Mulloway (About the biggest thing in my local river besides sharks, rays and dolphins! Mulloway can grow to about a metre and an half ) Been meaning to do it all summer but something allways got in the way. Now it's winter I'll have to put it off till Spring (southern time) Would love to get the time/money to get my currency for my PPL but it's a low priority at the moment. Cheers!
FlatSpinMan Posted July 5, 2013 Author Posted July 5, 2013 Forgot about this thread! Raaaaiidd - didn't follow that at all sorry, but good luck with solving them. MineFewer - what job entails that? Google camera car driver? In Kobe I like to bike up into the nicer neighborhoods in the hills and look around, too. They're all smallish houses because, well, this is Japan, but they're some of few places you actually get to see the aesthetic that Jspan is supposedly known for. Most of the rest of the places you see are random, ramshackle old buildings made of cheap materials, or else fairly generic box-style houses. Another thing I like about the hill suburbs here is the weird little paths running between houses in old neighborhoods - to call them 'alleys' would be exaggerating - and all the little streams and bridges. It all seems so haphazard and unplanned. Plus the views out over Osaka and Wakayama are worth the sweat and heavy breathing it takes to bike up some of the hills. @SkoshiTiger - did you ever make it out to the river with your son? If I lived in Australia, the water is about the last place I'd dare to venture upon, especially overnight. What kind of boat do you have - I'd require at least a destroyer to go out on the water in Oz.
MineFewer Posted July 7, 2013 Posted July 7, 2013 Your guess is, with all due respect, ha ha ha! Pure Fantasy. I deliver pizzas.

I might have to wait until Spring/Summer Until "SheWhoMUSTbeObeyed" will consent to the venture. The over night fishing would be on the river where it would be quite sheltered. I've got a old little 'tinnie' about 4.6 metres (~14.5 feet) long, with a shinny new 50HP outboard on the back. Great for motoring around the inshore waters, rivers etc. The picture above is from Lancelin Island (Western Australia) about 10 Km from where our Holiday house is (We trailered the boat to Lancelin and the Island is about 500m offshore), There is a nature reserve on the island. I've never actually seen a big shark out on the water, through they do seem to be on the News quite a bit. Apparently they are miss-understood and are part of nature and because the big whites are protected you can get in trouble for interfering with them! Go Figure! Even though the overnight fishing on hold for present, I'm taking my boy camping next week for the first time. Should be a hoot!
