Hohenadler Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 (edited) So I am having an issue with reinstalling Il-2. I was able to play on moderate to high settings during quick missions. However, during campaigns my computer would lag and everything would move at almost half speed. My computer is an old Origin 13 inch laptop from 2014 it has an i7 2.80GHz processor, the 860m series GPU and 10gb of ram. My computer only has a 120gb msata card which is the os. So knowing this, I install all of my games on an external drive. I have been running warthunder, ROF, Elite Dangerous, and il-2 with no issues beside occasionally reinstalling ROF and Il-2 because of corrupt files. I was setting up a night mission and as the game was loading it crashed. I go to restart it and the screen never gets beyond the black screen before crashing. I go to launch the launcher and a window shows that a lot of the core game files were missing or corrupt. I go to reinstall Il-2. The launcher loads and downloads the files but with just a few more megabytes to go after six massive hours, the launcher shows, "failure to update." It looks to me that my computer needs to replaced soon but I cannot afford it at the moment so I want to stretch this one as far as possible. Edited October 3, 2020 by Hohenadler
AndyJWest Posted October 3, 2020 Posted October 3, 2020 Issues with file loss and corruption are likely indicators of failing storage. I'd look into replacing that if you want to keep the laptop working. And back up anything you don't want to lose to somewhere else, as soon as you can.
