I do not plan to add support for brushed motors. It is outdated solution. Today there are affordable BLDC motors that perform several magnitudes better then brushed motors

The firmware links for this thread has disappeared as noted by several posts.  Is it still available? An earlier response by Propeller asked to be PM'ed when asked for it.  But I am a new member to this forum and when I try to send a direct message, I get a pop up that says I do not have permission.

It is finally there with all flows fixed. Has adapters for thrustmaster style extensions and VKB extension.

There are two possibilities - buy CAD files and build it yourself (it is not so difficult, couple of guys did it already). Or you can write to me and I will assembly it for you.

1. Can I use this with a Virpil stick?

2. Does this 'work' with Il-2 BoX? (saw the DCS video at the start)

3. Is there any maximum extension size? 

4. Do you have any more in-game media to share like for the first post?

1. I will know in couple of days if I will be able to support it from the box. If no - you will need just to bypass grip to your existing VPC controller.

2. Yes. It works with Il-2. It supports native DirectX effects and additional effects from telemetry (I've developed companion app that do it)

3. Technically - no. You will just get less force on the grip. I will measure force on this variant and let you know so you could calculate it with your extension length

4. I will post some later.

Hi @propeler what is the approximate total cost of building this joystick by myself these days? talking what specific files do i need to buy from you and the cost of parts.

ive been really wanting to get back to flying and tried using a t1600m after i had to get sell my virpil but it really didnt cut it.

If you are buying from the inventor, he charges 899€ + shipping -- according to his Github pages. (Apparently, the demand for them has created a backlog and waiting list.)

However, he also encourages people to go the DIY route too. The costs of building one yourself vary greatly. For instance, I got the controller electronics for the project, for a very cheap price knocking $200 off my total right away. I have also signed up for a group order to order laser cut parts on the FFBeast Discord channel. One fellow even printed out some of these parts using a 3D printer. So, luck, circumstance and parts availability will determine your the final cost of your joystick.

900 Euros is beyond my budget, so I'd ike to try the fully DIY route. I've joined the discord and try to find some more insights there.

I am still in the process of building, SAG.

The biggest costs are the electronics and the metalwork for the mechanics.

I paid $30 for a used hoverboard, $50 for a Odrive controller, $40 for a pair of encoders. I was lucky with those purchases. You'll need to purchase the firmware from Propeller3D which runs the electronics that's $50.

 

My guess is that one can halve the 900 purchase price but at least easily knock a 1/3rd off if you do it yourself. My best estimates anyway.

I've noticed that this FFB is limited to only X or Y direction but can not do diagonal stick directions because of the limitation of the gimbal design. Is that true?

why such a conclusion?
It is not a joystick if it cannot move diagonally.
