Get your props out for the lads.

I know interior decoration is unlikely to be a topic close to all of your hearts, but since you 'orrible lot are the only bunch of people I know who might be even remotely interested, may I present my latest curio.

It's a Russian (see Cyrillic script)manufactured (by a St Petersburg piano makers!) prop for a Morane Parasol (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Morane-Saulnier_L), acquired by myself for a steal at an auction in Fakenham, UK. How it arrived in Fakenham after it's WW1 service must be a hell of a tale, and will never be known...  During lockdown I cut the plate for the boss, mounted the front plate and propeller to the backing board through the props original bolt holes, and had a buddy with the knowhow 3d print the front of the boss out of nylon (It needs a bit more work to match the silver finish of the backplate of the boss).

But Diggun (i hear you cry) It's nowhere near long enough!

I agree, but it clearly hasn't been cut down or reshaped. Instead, it seems to me to be one of the ones that (hilariously) had amour strapped to the ends to enable the firing of a machine gun through it without an interrupter gear, as pictured on the Wiki page (and below). I know, my kitchen is a state.

Cecil Lewis flew a Morane Parasol for many months, including on the 1st day of the Somme, and describes the experience (unflatteringly) in his classic of ww1 aviation 'Sagittarius Rising'.

Soooo, you've seen where I keep mine, where do you keep your props guys?

Are you sure it’s legit?  You said the place you got it was called Fakenham.  That sounds suspicious to me.  :big_boss:

Fakenham

Is very real, it's a tiny town in West Norfolk and is frequently voted Most Boring place in the UK.

Blimey, it’s ‘Arthur Negus Enjoys’ all over again?
