Looking to add more skins to TC as Official

Hello Tankers,

We've had some great luck with adding skins for airplanes, so now I'm looking to add some quality community made skins to TC for the "official" release coming in a few weeks. Our current in-game selection is too small for my liking. I want to give users some more variety. All the templates are available in this thread as you know.

If you are a talented skin maker and would like to have a skin considered for inclusion please post the following -

1. A screenshot(s) of the skin

2. The actual skin so we can check them out in-game ourselves.

3. A description of the skin i.e. what unit, front and other details if you have them.

I see several interesting skins in the forum, but I don't have time to weed through and contact all the artists. So, I ask that you politely post them here so we can consider them. We will pick the ones we like for inclusion.

The requirements are as follows.

- Be historical.

- No NAZI symbols or offensive words or phrases in any language. (Sorry not debating this issue. It is what it is.)

- Be high-quality and generally reflect the details of our current skins (panel lines etc.) and no crazy effects to simulate things not included in the game.

- Doesn't have to be from Kursk, but if there are any cool skins from Kursk would be cool.

- Would be fun to see a wider variety of colors and patterns than what is represented than in-game currently.

I can offer some small compensation for including the skins in game. I will only discuss this with you once we see a skin(s) we are interested in including.

Time is short so the sooner you post them the better if you want them considered. There are roughly ten slots available per tank in TC for new skins. Not sure we will find enough skins to fill them up, but there is an upper limit to how many we can include.

If you post one, we will consider it, it is not guaranteed we will use it of course. We may not like all skins presented. The choice is ours.

The 3rd Guards Corps was put into reserve during the Battle for Kursk in mid 1943, but wasn’t committed to the offensive until exploitation phase of the battle in August. They then took part in the drive on the Dnepr in late 1943 with the 47th and 37th Armies. In November 1943 it was once more withdrawn to STAVKA reserves for refitting and rest.

During 1944 it received its lend lease M4A2 Sherman and Valentine tanks in preparation for Operation Bagration.

During the planning for Operation Bagration the Oslikovskiy Cavalry-Mechanised Group was assigned the role of leading the drive through the gap created by the 3rd Byelorussian Front at Bogushevsk. It was to make for the Berezina River south of Borisov, where it was to establish bridgeheads. It was to fight as a small tank army, with the mobility of the mounted cavalry providing mobile infantry support vital in the Byelorussian marshlands.

Sherman tank of the Royal Scots Greys in Italy on 29 September 1943. The regiment's vehicles were painted with a dapple grey colour scheme such as can be seen on this tank. The crew of this tank named it "Sheik".

1943: Italy

On their drive towards Naples, the crew of ‘Sheik’, a Sherman Mk.III (M4A2) belonging to 'A' Squadron of the Royal Scots Greys (2nd Dragoons), stop to watch water vapour coming out of Mount Vesuvius, Italy. 29 September 1943.

Formed in 1678, the Royal Scots Greys were the last Cavalry regiment in the British Army to replace their horses for mechanized vehicles, having done so only in March of 1941.

It is said that, proud of their traditions and heritage (that included the capture of the French 45th Infantry’s eagle at Waterloo) the regiment wanted to keep the colours by which it was known so they initially painted their tanks grey.

General Montgomery, being an Infantry man, disliked the idea and ordered the tanks repainted with camouflage patterns, but didn’t specify which patterns or colours should be used. So the Greys used a combination of khaki-green, light mud and hand painted blue-black flecks to create a pattern loosely based in similar camo patterns seen in German tanks.

The Royal Scots Greys were re-equipped as an all-Sherman regiment, with Sherman II tanks. The regiment continued to refit through the short Sicilian campaign, not seeing action until it was part of the Salerno landings (Operation Avalanche), part of the Italian Campaign, in September 1943.The regiment was assigned to 23rd Armoured Brigade, alongside 40th and 46th RTR. The 23rd was an independent brigade reporting directly to British X Corps, which was itself under command of the U.S. Fifth Army.

Soon after landing, the Royal Scots Greys were in action against the German forces during the advance to Naples. Although the regiment was part of the 23rd Armoured Brigade, the regiment's three squadrons were split up to provide armour support for the three brigades (167th, 169th and 201st Guards) of the 56th (London) Infantry Division, nicknamed "The Black Cats". Landing with the Black Cats of the 56th Division, the Scots Greys were instrumental in defeating the counter-attacks of Sixteenth Panzer Division. Finally, on 16 September, the Scots Greys were committed to the fight as a regiment, helping to stop, and then drive back, the Twenty-Sixth Panzer Division, allowing X Corps to advance out of the beachhead.The regiment would continue to participate in the Allied drive north, until it was brought to a halt at the Garigliano River. In January 1944, the regiment turned over its tanks to other units needing replacements and was transferred back to England.Just before the regiment sailed, they were transferred back to the 4th Armoured Brigade.

M4A2 6th South African Armoured Division, 11th South African Armoured Brigade, 1st. Pretoria Regiment. A Squadron

The South African 6th Armoured Division was the first armoured division in the South African Army and was formed during World War II. Established in 1943, it was based on a nucleus of men from the former South African 1st Infantry Division who had returned to South Africa after the Second Battle of El Alamein. The division was initially transferred to Egypt for training, after which it served in Italy during 1944 and 1945.

I have a general purpose alternate summer/autumn skin for the KV-1. Some of my screens are from before TC had commanders, I'd been working on the skin on and off before I finished it.

79th Armoured Division "Hobart's Funnies" HQ Tank 1944

An HQ Tank of the British 79th Armoured Division, the subject was famously photographed on the 13th February 1944, helping to demonstrate the Churchill Arc bridging tank, and it is represented as it would have appeared shortly after the April 1944 directive; to mark all British tanks with a US-style white star.

Nicknamed "Hobarts Funnies" after its commander, Maj General Percy Hobart, the division was created by bringing together vehicles purposed for a range of different specialist or engineering tasks. Within its inventory were AFVs modified for amphibious assault, minefield clearance, anti-tank defence circumvention, bunker-busting, bridge-laying, road-laying and carbon-arc light tanks for blinding defenders and directing fire.

Due to its diverse and unique inventory, 79th Armoured Division was not intended to be fielded as coherrent battlefield deployment. Instead the division acted as a central pool for specialist vehicle units; to be detached to regular divisions as per the operational demands. Elements of the 79th served alongside the British, Canadian and US armies during their deployment.

The 79th Armoured Division played a crucial role in breaching the Altlantic Wall defences on D-Day (Overlord), the capture of Walcheren Island (Infatuate), the breaching of the Seigfried Line (Veritable) and the crossing of the Rhine (Plunder) and Elbe.

The II SS Panzer Corps was formed from SS Division Leibstandarte, SS Division Das Reich and SS Division Totenkopf in July 1942. In early February 1943, the corps, under the command of SS-Gruppenführer Paul Hausser, was attached to Army Group South in Ukraine and participated in the Third Battle of Kharkov. In July 1943, the corps took part in Operation Citadel, spearheading 4th Panzer Army's attack in the southern sector. By July 11 SS Totenkopf had 94 tanks. Only 15 Tiger tanks were still in action at Prochorovka, and there were no SS Panthers available (the Panthers that were involved in the battle were those allocated to the Gross Grossdeutschland division, fighting to the west). The SS battalions that were equipped with Panthers were still training in Germany in July 1943. The bulk of the tank force was made up of the workhorse of the German Army, the Panzer MkIV.

The markings are of the lead tank of the 2nd platoon, 5th Company of the 52nd Panzer Battalion. One of the 200 that went into action with the Grossdeutschland Division on the southern salient of the Kursk Bulge. More were lost due to breakdowns and fires than enemy action as there had been no time for proper testing as they were rushed into the upcoming Battle.

Another version, maybe closer to history. This one is very dusty and slightly damaged. I took off a mudguard but had to put it back on as the inner liner is shared between left and right. They either both have to come off or else stay on. Pity. I like the dust effect but it might look different depending on monitor.

Two hundred Panthers of the 51st and 52nd Panzer Battalions attached to the Grossdeutschland Division which in turn was part of the 48th Panzer Corps went into action in July 1943 on the southern salient of the Kursk bulge. Included was Red 435 of the 51st Panzer Battalion's 4th Company, but only 43 remained in service by August 19.

This Schwere Panzer Abteilung 503 was part of Army Group Don during February and March of 1943. They fought alongside 5th SS Wiking trying to keep open an escape route for Army Group A withdrawing from the Caucasus after the collapse of Stalingrad. Tiger 111 was part of a batch of Tigers to be sent to Rommel in Tunisia but after the capture of Stalingrad by the Russian Army was quickly sent to the Eastern Front. It is in standard factory Dunkel Grau (Dark Grey), did not have white wash applied, and also Abteilung 503 did not display their unit insignia. I have also not come across any Tigers of 503 during this period displaying kill markings.

A SU-122 at Kursk, July 1943, freshly arrived from the factory with a rather unusual sand livery over the usual olive green. Identification numbers were hand-painted, probably in the storage lot or directly over the transporting rail carriage.

DAK Tiger 731 'Norbert' of Abt.501 in Tunisia. There are some original pictures of this tank to be found online. It was found abandoned and blown up by the British. It had been knocked out by a round that penetrated on the left hand side just about where the 3 is. The emblem was originally on the lhs as shown but was moved above the drivers visor when spare tracks were attached here and used to shield the front armour.

M4A2 US Marines 3rd Tank Battalion, Iwo Jima 1945

The 3rd TB on Iwo used the 55-gallon drums for the deep-water fording. These drums were taken off quickly to allow 360 degree rotation of the turret.

"Blighty" of No 5 Troop, B Squadron, 47th (Oldham) Royal Tank Regiment, 24th Armoured Brigade at El Alamein. It was commanded Lt Hiseman (photographed 26th October 1942). 47th RTR was engaged in fighting around the recently captured Outpost "Snipe", and took heavy casualties during sustained German and Italian counter-attacks. At 10am on the 27th (whilst trying to relieve the Snipe position) the tank was knocked out by a German AT position, resulting in the death of the loader, Trooper Fred Keates (Photographed front right). Keates was buried by his tank. 47th RTR was disbanded in early 1943 due to combat losses.

This is a PzKpfw III of the 5th SS Panzer Division Wiking on the Southern Front, Russia 1942. Unfortunately the Divisions emblem which should be on the front rhs has had to be removed.

It was based on this photo.

I found some stuff I wanted to fix so here is the updated version.
