Simple, IL2 Great Battles wants to be on par with 1946.

 

I expect we'll get all the fun theatres. As much as I love Cliffs of Dover it got rather dated and I'd love a Great Battles version of North Africa and I'd love a new Battle of Britain. Why not make the aircraft for it? I'm going to pay for them.

Why? 

Because the devs are more focused on the Hurricane Mk.II and the aircraft planned for IL-2: Battle of Normandy. There is a greater interest by the devs and by flight simmers to do another late war battle, or an Eastern Front battle with more Russian bombers, or the Pacific. And either another TC or FC installment.

 

Maybe by the time Jason starts getting his senior pension the devs will decide to do the Battle of Britain and North Africa.

If we get BoB it's going to be a a battle and not a set of collector planes.  The product theme is a battle.  You get map and planes that go with that battle.  Collector planes are outside the scope, but they usually fit into the existing battles somewhere.

 

While the Normandy map may include part of England is is not a proper map for BoB.  Pretty much the entire plane set fir BoB is missing.  No Me109 E4, me110C, Ju87B. Spitfire Mk I, or Hurricane Mk I. Currently the team is working on Normandy, and it usually takes more than a year to do a full battle, so I suspect no BoB until 2023 at the earliest, and then only if they take that on as their next project.

 

North Africa is interesting.  I suspect even that is not doable just as a map.  One would have to add Italian planes.  The P40 that we have is probably not the right one.  But we do have the Hurricane and Spitfire Mk V.  The German stable needs no further additions to be usable.  Mini product?  Map and five new planes and reduce the cost?  Might not be worth it to build and sell that way but it is feasible from a development point of view.

Not me. Early war is best war.

 

The fights are more fun with less powerful munitions imo.

I don't expect tomorrow but it will be foolish to not do a new BoB and the Pacific. Major Western market pulls for our iconic battles.

 

Cliffs of Dover needs to be replaced eventually.

I suspect Microsoft has got something going on. I spoke to a forcefeedback producer who was in talks with Microsoft. VR is coming into maturity. Could be a load of crap but I think they might deliver a broadside to everyone making combat sims.
