Noob Career Question....

Hello...

In your squadron/group you run 2 missions..;.1 in the AM...1 in the PM.

 

You're character is assigned to one or the other...is there a way to be assigned 

to the other one?

 

Don't feel like escorting bombers again.

AFAIK in regular game career mode there is no way to opt into or out of a mission as it shows up on the screen.  Yes, it can be frustrating at times.   I would recommend you check out and possibly install Pat Wilson's Campaign Generator (PWCG).  There's plenty of information on it in the 3rd Party Apps section.  In PWCG you only fly one mission a day.  One of the things I like about PWCG is it gives the player some say on which missions the player wants to fly.  You can accept or "scrub" a mission to suit your needs.

Unless I am mistaking, if you select to start your career as the commander of your squadron, it’ll give you the choice to assign missions to whoever you want, so you can place yourself in any mission that you want.

If you choose to start as the commander, or alternatively reach a high enough rank to be appointed as your unit's commander, you then get to decide how many pilots are assigned to and which pilots fly a given mission.

If that mission is on the list for the day, yes. As commander, you decide when to fly.
