CLOD doesn't start no matter what I try

My game is confounding me. No DLC, no mods, just a default CLOD Blitz install. It flashes the steam pop up to say it's launching the game, then the button goes back to green/play. I have tried literally everything to fix it. All the overaly, controller, this and that listed on how to fix this. What makes it worse is that I started it fine this morning, went out for the day, now it won't start again. I've changed absolutely nothing on my system, game or Steam.  All other steam games I've tried load and play fine. Just this one that is being very annoying. So far I haven't gotten Tobruk, and until my game starts each time I want to play, I won't be getting the DLC. I won't be able to use it anyway.

It happens in both online and offline modes. I've tried everything pretty much. Checked file integrity twice, rebooted at least twice, scanned file system, startup repair, tried installing new vcredist and nothing works. It flashes launching popup, then goes back to the green play button.

Did you uninstall some programme from you computer?

Even not related to the game...

Happened to me a couple of weeks ago.

I tried everything and nothing worked, then I reinstalled that programme and now everything it's fine

Nothing uninstalled.  I have changed nothing on my PC at all. that's the kicker. CLOD would work once, then no more. It worked yesterday morning with the PC as it is now, then not again last night nor today so far.

I also forgot to mention that I uninstalled and reinstalled the game twice in the last couple days to be sure.

Deleting cache folder doesn't do anything either.  I did a windows update check and said I was up to date and no failed installs. I am trying pretty much anything mentioned in any thread I can find on this problem.  Win 7 comp doesn't help either.    I have Wings of Prey, purchased through steam so no Gaijen software to uninstall.

Glad you posted here. Give the TFS lot a chance to see this, they have members from Canada to Australia so not all in our time zone. This is probably just the kind of thing they'd need to see. In the meantime have you looked at Buzz' prior post. Net framework or other 32 bit prog conflicts are pretty common from what I've read - not that I understand it all !

Try to check with windows update if everything is up to date (net framework etc etc).

Check your video card driver version.

Also you could try reinstalling the game.

I hope that helps.

That's all that comes to mind right now.

I have reinstalled the game 4 times now. I have done my windows updates and I also looked for any failed updates and did not see any. I tried unplugging my HOTAS and xbox controller one at a time, and both unplugged at the same time. I get the exact same outcome. I went in and unchecked older netframework and reinstalled it. I can't install any downloaded version of net framework as it says I have a newer version that includes the version I am trying to install. I have tried pretty much everything that I have read to try. It has ran once this weekend with countless tries. Odd it would load up once, but not again. It loaded after a number of failed attempts. Not the first try.

I have now gone into programs and features and uninstalled all net frameworks, restarted, then reinstalled. Still won't start. Any other ideas?

Maybe some log files in the <my documents>\1c softclub\il-2 sturmovik cliffs of dover folder can shed a light? Are there any?

And since nothing has helped so far, just delete your whole 1C folder under My Documents and let Steam rebuild it. This has worked for others in the past that weren‘t being able to start their games.

I have tried deleting that folder then reinstalling CLOD and still won't start. I also don't get the my documents 1c folder back at that point.

EDIT ____

It may have been fixed. The "Win10 Controlled Folder Access is turned on" seems to have been the issue. Just started it 3 times in a row. Changed graphics to be sure config would change to be sure it had nothing to do with that.  Here's hoping that was all it was.     Thanks for being patient and helping out.

One thing that can help as well is installing everything inside: "\\Steam\SteamApps\common\IL-2 Sturmovik Cliffs of Dover Blitz\_CommonRedist"

For me it just worked installing those the first time i've tried the game on Windows 10.
