The images don’t show the IIb with 12 .303s but I presume that’ll be modelled. It is fugly though. von Tom When it was announced IIRC the 12 gun configuration was one of the mods mentioned so I presume that is still happening.
Lusekofte Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 Great airplane. A fighter in my taste 1
Gambit21 Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 I’m happy for all of you that have wanted this aircraft for so long. I’m sure you’ll have a blast with it. Plus it’s an early war crate and we need more of that. For me personally - one step closer to the Mosquito. 8
EAF19_Marsh Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 Clostermann claimed (get my excuses in early) to have eacorted them on a No-Balls mission (contender for most Ironic missions name) in early ‘44. Sounds a bit odd - were they still ETO front line that late? 2

keeno Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 Totally iconic, I've wanted this since BoS, looks amazingly fugly but an absolute "must have!"

It isn't out of place for the Normandy '44 map, though not in a role this sim plays well to. They were used as postal planes, with goods stuffed into the rear fuselage or in underwing pods. One of the Air Dispatch Letter Service's Hurricanes was the first allied airplane to land in Allied-held Normandy and return to Britain Looks quite fetching in invasion stripes, I think. Sort of looks even chunkier in them, hope we get a livery 4 2
Fritz_X Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 (edited) Back in the days when we got our hands on BOM it always irked me that it came along with the P-40 as the collector plane instead of the Hawker Hurricane. Now, seeing the screenshots of this high quality model Hurri and hearing about the tons of modifications we'll be receiving with a single purchase, I feel like all the years have been worth the wait, easily. Big THANK YOU to the devs, I'm looking forward to this release. Edited September 25, 2020 by Fritz_X 1 4

Think of the Hurricane as your favorite dog; kinda weird, not a purebred, but totally loyal and would chew on Hitler's one remaining testicle at the mere hint of your command. I just bought my Hurricane. Really looking forward to it. 1

I feel the same way about early 1980's Cadillacs! ? I'm very interested in seeing whether the mods will stick to factory-only specs or try to cover better-known field mods as well. Toots_LeGuerre Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 Finally. A great OTU training plane. Just kidding, I'm looking forward to this release as much as anyone. I have a feeling that it may well be the definitive Virtual Hurricane for years to come. I was in Canada years a few ago, when about six pilots with the Canadian Harvard Association got a chance to fly a Hurricane that had come to their annual airshow. They stayed up all night prepping, learning the Hurri system. The post flight debrief was always the same: "A lovely plane. Far easier than a Harvard to fly." Ahem . . . having said that, how about a Harvard/T6 Texan? Hard to do WW2 without one, ya know. 'The Pilot Maker' Maybe AI only for training scenarios. 1
BladeMeister Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 As soon as I saw the words Hurricane and pictures, I had to step in the bathroom here at work. Then I looked and witnessed 'plane porn' in one of its' purest forms. Now I am looking for a cigarette and I haven't smoked in over 20 years. She is looking beautiful team! Great work, cannot wait! I would though myself take Battle of Britain, or Battle of France and Poland most preferable. Shame CoD does not work in my computer.

RhumbaAzul Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 THE plane that enabled the battle of Britain to be concluded favourably. To me it has much more 'romance' than the Spitfire. I think this one will be my favourite in the game, i've always preferred the underdog in a fight. 1 1
Freycinet Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 When it comes to looks, the Spitfire is the lady that will make your heart beat faster, the Hurri is the girl who will make a good mum and put the kids to bed with lullabies every night. 3

Hurricane production ended in June or July 1944... but operational types would have been the Hurricane Mk IV in 1944, and all Hurricanes were withdrawn from active service in March 1944... except for the Postal Squadron runs at Normandy. 137 Sqn retained at least one Hurricane after Normandy. It was destroyed when the Jerries hit Eindhoven in January 1945. Mk V came next but never saw active service Edited September 25, 2020 by Trooper117

Tony_Kito Posted September 25, 2020 Posted September 25, 2020 I can't wait to confine the German twin-engined aircraft to oblivion with this beaut. My favorite aircraft as a young lad playing IL-2 Forgotten Battles simply because I could evaporate anything I sneezed at ?

One of the things that I love about this sim is the constant "level up" that we see with the aircraft models, textures, attention detail. 3
