Can I play without internet?

Hi, I just thought I’d quickly post a question regarding playing without internet. I have a problem where if I play it in any way other than on broadband, the cockpit of the plane only half loads and the rest is black. The frame rate also drops to about 9 or 10 FPS, whereas if I play on broadband I get 60 FPS. I have tried using cellular data and lowering the graphics to low settings, but I still have the same problem and it makes the game unplayable unless I use our broadband, which I don’t always have access to. If anyone could help that would be much appreciated.

Sure, as long as you don't use the launcher to start the game and start \bin\game\Il-2.exe directly you should be able to play quick missions at least - I don't remember now which game mode don't work apart from career (and obviously multiplayer). Just press escape at the login prompt and you should be good to go.

Is there not a ‘log-in offline’ option?

You can play offline, you don't have to go through the launcher either... you can do it from a standard short cut on the desktop if you like.

Some elements of the game will not be available to you however.

You won't be able to play Multiplayer (of course) and career mode. But the single missions, QMB and scripted missions and campaigns are available. If you want to play a career, you can download PWCG, which also doesn't need internet connection for playing.

Right now I do not play the career nor multiplayer, I do play PWCG and the scripted campaigns, free ones and paid for ones.  Those are enough to keep one busy for a long time.

As Yogiflight posted other than career or multiplayer all can be played off line.  For example I have 5 different PWCG campaigns going and if I am lucky I might get in 3 missions in a day.

Yes.

Your performance should not depend on being connected though. That makes no sense.

Check that you have updated drivers for your gpu, something else is going on.

Yes, that is right. I have palyed career missions without any issues and was told by the game after the missions, that the game had lost connection (because of my bad internet connection) while I was playing.

I think the internet connection is only neccessary for the statistics and maybe for mission creating, but playing the missions, after they were loaded should not be an issue.

At that point the mission file is on your hard drive, so you can play.  I have heard if people even editing the missions before they play them.  As you point out, campaign management activities require a connection because at some point data has to be stored and that data is not stored locally.
